COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dolle Dulle Teve Special Reserva 2004 is a special version of De Dolle's Dulle Teve, which has been matured for over 24 months in wooden casks previously used by Etienne Dupont/France to mature his famous Calvados de Normandie. The over two year maturation in those wooden casks has allowed De Dolle Dulle Teve to mellow, lose its agressive carbonation and dryness, and develop a new balance of flavors triggered by the tannin, vanilla and butterscotch flavors of E.Dupont's Calvados casks. In addition the "invisible" Calvados hidden in the wood itself has pushed the alcohol of De Dolle Dulle Teve Special Reserva to about 12% to 13%

Bottle from the cellar at Bottleworks, brought up shortly after their 10th. Pours a hazy orange with a thick, bubbly head. Aroma has orange, oak, candi sugar, cider and light caramel. Wow, does the flavor ever take off! Oak and brandy, yeasty, bready notes, black pepper and maybe even a dry red wine. Boozy - this is a very hot brew, even after sitting around all these years. It definitely didn’t lose its "aggressive carbonation and dryness," either - plenty of both in here, and I ended up swirling out quite a bit of fizz. Very good, just too hot to handle - it can’t cover that kind of strength.

Bottle (thanks DA for sharing)... Poured pale, golden with a white head. Calvados casks adding oaky, fruit alcohol tones. Still some tripel-like qualities with some spicy yeast tone, bread malts, and earthy characters. Candied nutty, oak, boozy qualities. The sweetness built and built as a kept sipping this one becoming like a toasted, caramel-like tone.

11.2oz bottle, 2003 vintage, shared by Dickinsonbeer--thanks Paul! Clear caramel orange with a small off-white head, fading to a thick fizzy ring before long. There is some oxidation, but is still yeasty and fruity with some nice light apple brandy and wood notes, toasted malt behind. Flavor follows suit with stronger booziness. Some caramel is also present, the finish dry with bitterness at a 4. Medium body with low prickly carbonation. Pretty tasty, and has held up quite well.

330 ml bottle courtesy of hopdog. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized frothy off white head. This had an awesome nose; syrupy sweet, caramel, almost candy like, vanilla, fruity favoring citrus, apples and pears. The flavor has more caramel and brown sugar, but this does not have the same sweetness as the nose would indicate. Still fruity with vanilla and oak, but the alcohol does show up now. Tingly mouthfeel, medium bodied. The finish is dry, but flavorful with some earthiness not found earlier. This was a solid interesting beer. 7/16/2009 from notes.

Bottle 2003 vintage poured a clear amber with a lasting creamy off white head. Aromas of apple, carmel, oak, spice, light vanilla and a hint of earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a warming finish. Flavors of apple, carmel, oak, vanilla and light spice with a smooth warming lingering apple finish. Great Beer!. Pleasant surprise, recieved as a bonus at least a year ago.

Bottle, huge thanks to drewbeerme for throwing this in as an extra!!! Well, I was too busy drinking to take notes... oh well. I had no idea this was 12%+. This drank magnificently. Love the apple brandy flavor. Lots of carbonation lost when the bottle opened so this became a very nice sipper. Not very sticky or really that sweet thanks to that great De Dolle yeast/funk. Just a touch of vanilla underlying the great apple brandy. Loved it!

My Rating # 4000. 33cl. Bottle. Thanks a lot Henrik for the Trade. 2005 Vintage. Pours unclear amber with a fine stable white head and lacings. Nose is sweet of port, alcohol, plum. On top it has some slight oxydation and some spicy dolle yeast. Flavor is sweet oak, vanilla, yeast and pepper. Very well rounded. Vinous and slightly sticky palate. Warm and complex! Long end.. Brilliant! Im going for another thousand!
