| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 10, 2009 De Dolle owes me a carpet cleaning and two keyboards, just from the past six months or so. Fucking gushers. 11.2 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a black color with a large head, good head retention and sticky lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, coconut, chocolate, pineapple. Taste seems to be a little more like a stout than the aroma... roasted malts, chocolate, coffee. Medium bodied. poolboy (66), Lafayette, Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 4, 2009 Black in color. Beige head. Small bottle. Lots of chocolate and coffee. Musky. I find it a little sweet, fruity, and spicy for a stout. Not my favorite, but well done. lakersfan16 (53), Anchorage, Alaska, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2009 Pours nearly black. Surprising amount of carbonation produces more head than most beers of this style. Sweet, fruity aroma. Borresteijn (1452), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 31, 2009 33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Almost black colour, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, liquorice, a hint of sourness. Flavour is roasted malts, liquorice, dark chocolate, some sugar with a good bitter moccha/espresso finish. Strong carbonation, preventing this beer from being highly drinkable. Nice flavours though. cab (863), Denmark
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 31, 2009 Bottle. Very fruity, dark fruit malty huge overpowering head. Aromas of yeast, bitter chocolate, and barn. Nice filling tast, nice end. hopheaven (88), Eureka, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 27, 2009 Pours a cola color with an incredibly carbonated, effervescent, rich tan head. Would I expect any less from a Belgian yeast? Smells effusively of dark chocolate with some sweet licorice and espresso notes atop gently toasted malts. Earthy hops also come through well in the nose. The flavor is something altogether different, very sweet and fruity up front , and the roasted malts have a more burnt character on the tongue. Bitter coffee lingers on the finish. Has a very dry and bubbly mouthfeel, uncharacteristic for a stout yet typical of Belgian beers. Overall, a unique beer, but off the mark of what I desire in a stout. Too much bitterness, sweetness, and carbonation. ryanknock (150), San Francisco, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Fruity, rich and slightly sour stout. Nose of chocolate, prunes, toffee, roast and caramel. The mouthfeel is quite full, slightly thick, and carbonation is medium. Additional smoke, coffee, raisin and licorice in the flavor. Ends rather smooth and slightly bitter, but mostly roasty and slightly warm. Not your traditional stout, really more of a farmhouse Belgian Black Ale. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 20, 2009 Bottle. Roasty malt aroma, relatively mild, with some fruitiness. Dark brown body, large tan head. Very fizzy carbonation gives a mouthfeel that is deceptively light. Flavor is mostly roasty and not very complex. Brief finish.
