330 ml bottle
Gusher. Dark reddish brown, almost black beer with huge brown frothy head. Aroma has liquor, mudcake, roastiness, sour cherry and vanilla. Flavor has cherry, toffee, roastiness and bitterness. Palate is medium full with high carbonation. Finish has medium bitterness. Aftertaste has sour cherry, fruitiness, roastiness, coffee and sweet dark sugar. Almost unbelievably thin with this ABV, perhaps the turbocharged carbonation affects it? Other than that, just what I’d expect from a Belgian Foreign Stout.

330ml bottle from Belgium in a Box - Black with lasting tan head. Sweet, malty aroma. Rich and full flavoured, a bitter and roasty, liquorice, coffee and chocolate. Palate is sticky with a distracting prickly carbonation. Long warming bitter finish... and a little rum kick too. Not as out-of-this-world as was hoping, but good nonetheless.

Bottle @ De Dolle, Esen - BE. Color: dark black beer with small carbonation and medium brown head. Smell: domination of malt and roasted malt. Notes of caramel and brown sugar. Very sweet domination. Taste: malt and caramel domination. Brown sugar, rye bread. And caramelized finish. Aftertaste: roasted malt, caramel and small alcohol. Very strong for a stout but a must to try!

Bottle 33cl from Bierhalle Deconinck, @ home. Black color, big tan head. Light aroma of dark chocolate, sour yeast. Taste is a bit sour, dry finish. I was expecting a bit more from this one.
