Drank this on the Manitoba bridge in Bruges in honour of fallen Canadians who took Bruges in WW2. The aroma has a smoky wood note with tons of coffee, licorice and espresso. Bitter and heavy with a bitter chocolate and tons of roasted malts and espresso. Not balanced at all but very tasty.

At a tasting, thanks zvikar, lively bubbley head, deepish brown colour, yeasty and rubbery aroma with some roasted coffee behind, feels quite astringent, flavour of roasted coffee and charred wood, light bodied and much too sour. Quite difficult to drink.

33cl bottle. Pours deep dark brown, almost black, with medium beige creamy head. Looks really good. The aroma is a blend of caramel, yeast, chocolate and roasted malts. Gives the impression that itís quite sweet. It definetly is when tasting: lots of licorice and caramel notes with a touch of dark chocolate. Hints of ripe fruits as well. Medium/creamy mouthfeel, perfect carbonation. Itís a good beer, not my style of Stout though.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours black in color with a beige head. Burnt wood, cold coffee and notes of licorice in aroma. Coffee and bitter chocolate in taste. A bit of licorice and bitter chocolate in aftertaste. Feels a bit raw somehow on the whole. Enjoyed as morningcoffee outside by the sea.
