Dark brown body with brown head. Strong malt aroma. Taste is a little different. Creamy body. Flavor is mainly roasted malt but with some sweetness that is different. Not sure what the flavor is, fruits? Hop finish is a little present compared to a more choclately one that i would like. Pretty good and a little different, Im fine with a good American stout though.

Amazing discovery, i was used to sweeter or bitter dark/black beers. And this one was recommended by the people over at moeder lambik. At first i couldn’t quite situate the taste, but this one sneaks in quietly. I think i finished this in 1h time, and really enjoyed it. caramel, chocolate, coffee, roasty, cheese aroma’s and salty taste

2013.02.10 - De Dolle Extra Export Stout - 11.2oz bottle in goblet glass. Bottle cap marked "Bottled JUN2010".
Pours a very nice deep chestnut brown which becomes dark brown to black when the glass is full. Huge 1-2 inch foamy caramel head settles to about a 1cm lacey foamy head.
Aroma is basic Belgian earthy yeast. You get some peppery notes, and some roast aroma.
Mouthfeel is medium heavy. Carbonation seems adequate but possibly a little light. A bit of a creamy feel but it's mostly from remaining foamy head, though some is from the malt.
Taste is nice. Malty sweetness is evident on the front end, and then carbonation, roasty malt and a bit of tang on the middle. spicy and perhaps a bit pepper on the middle. Little to no alcohol for 9% abv. Maybe a bit of licorice as other reviewers noted.
A nice Belgian stout.

33 cl. bottle poured in to a snifter. Pitch black with a massive, cloudy, tan head. Sweet aroma with fruity and roasted malts notes, red berries, coffee, chocolate and licorice. Taste is sweet. Medium to full body, creamy texture, and a soft carbonation. Finishes lightly bitter with yeasty notes. Complex - good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 ml. bottle. Bottled June 2012. Pours an enormous, well retained, tiny bubbled, beige head, with extensive lacing, over a reddish brown (SRM 24) body....nose is chocolate dried fruits including plum and fig....taste is light chocolate, dried fruits, vanilla, barest hints of sourness, finishing with a moderate coffee, hop bitterness.....mouth feel thick, creamy, slightly sticky, minimal astringency, alcohol warmth present, carbonation adds light spritz.. This is a wonderfully complex, well balanced beer. The ABV is high for a Foreign Stout, but it otherwise it is not heavy enough to be an Imperial. BJCP 8/3/15/5/7
