A black beer with a fine light brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of roasted bread. The flavor is rather complex on a background of alcohol it contains prunes, plums, roasted bread, and bitter coffee - before it ends on a dry bitter hop note. A very nice beer.

33 cL bottle. Pours black with a gigantic lasting brown head. Aroma is roasted malty, clear alcohol presence, somewhat dried fruity. Flavour is smoked, burned malt, coffee, some chocolate smoothness and some liqourice sharpness. Slight burning alcohol finish with a classic de dolle yeast presence, a slight acidity blending in with the bitterhops. Complex yet tasty brew.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - OCT 4, 2006
(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear mahogany with a warm, reddish tint and a frothy, light brown head. Sweetish malty with some lightly perfumy and spicy notes. Medium body only - the alcohol is very well hidden - with a rather high carbonation. Lightly burned, malty accents and a very high fruitiness. A soft Stout - in style not that far from a Belgian Brune or Dubbel. 041006

Bottled (thanks rlgk). Dark brown colour, huge brown fluffy head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and smoke. Flavour has the same in it. Slightly acidic hopping in the finish in my opinion, but still a very good beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dedollewaitor (12285) - Odense, DENMARK - JAN 5, 2007
Almost murky black with fine thick creamy fully lasting white head. Aroma of dark roasted malts. Coffee & chocolate. A vinous sweet aroma as well. Fizzy carbonation - lively mouthfeel. Yeasty dolle feel. Full body. Taste of bitter hops & chocolate. Little liquirice also. This and Ellezelloise Hercule, is without a doubt the two best stouts from Belgium! Really great!

Dark color; huge creamy head, beige. Strong liquorice aroma. Good Strong Ale, with some more roasted malt dryness than usual. Roasted nuts; a lot of liquorice. Strong, dry ending bitterness. Very good as Foreign Stout, below standards for De Dolle.
