4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured a black color with a huge frothy brown head that lasted and produced good lacing. Good roasted malt and dark fruit aroma. Full body with a smooth sticky texture. Complex roasted dark fruit stout flavor with a medium bittersweet smooth finish of moderate duration. Very well balanced dark fruity stout.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
100% black with a big frothy off-white head. Traditional roast stout aromas of licorice, chocolate and coffee as well as some fruity notes of dates, raisins and perhaps cherry. Complex dark flavours follows the nose, some acid, some bitterness and a touch too much alcohol prescence. What the commercial description happily calls "very lively on the tongue", I’ll call too much carbonation that takes away from the flavour.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JUN 11, 2007 Bottle. Pours a nice opaque black with a big beige head that appears bubbly, but forms a creamy feel. Aroma is wonderful. Initially fruity, berries, then turns a little musky with a chocolate backbone. Quite spritzy in your mouth, but it still manages to feel creamy. Extremely complex flavour. It kind of feels like a saison/lambic while it is in your mouth (fruity and a touch sour), turning into a nice chocolate stout as you swallow. Berries, chocolate, plums, a touch of coffee. Stunning.

Bottle. Creamy light borwn excellent fully lasting head. Brown colour. Moderate malty and heavy hoppy aroma. Really great. Moderate bitter flavor but too powerfull coffee-notes. Long finish. Oily palate but way too fizzy.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
bottle from ølbutikken.
pours brown, is black in the glass, giant thick brown smooth head.
strange salty/sour aroma. not what i’d expect in a stout. faint chocolate. perhaps the salty aroma is from licorice?
flavor sour, mixed with the ordinary stout flavors. tart. licorice. slight smoked stuff in the aftertaste. warming up it seems to be more balanced. the salty lime taste lingers in the background and makes it all a bit surreal.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle poured a nearly opaque brownish black with a LARGE lasting tan head. Aromas of yeast, bitter chocolate, a bit of licorice and hints of dark fruit. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of sour yeast, bitter chocolate, light licorice and a hint of espresso with a lingering sweet finish. Not a bad stout but it needs more body.
