4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black plum color, with some ruby shining and beige and foamy head. Dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice with a back of Porto wine. Slightly more bitter than a traditional stout, has a deep taste, very well balanced, to yeast, coffee and liquorice with nuts. Pretty good beer.

On gravity dispense at GBBF 2014 on Day 1. Opaque black stout with a thin tan head. Nose is vinegar, little sour, roasted malt, Belgian funky yeast, black coffee, chocolate. Taste is slightly sour, yeasty, slight funkiness, roasted malt, dark chocolate, dark fruit, prune and raisin, and coffee. Not sure there is supposed to be sour in here. Suspect not. Will re-rate again from a bottle soon.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance- black, with a huge pillowy light brown head which settles into 1-2 fingers. Aroma- fairly hoppy, burnt malts, toffee, milky coffee, treacle, vanilla ice cream, waffles. Taste- roasted malts, burnt toast, bitter espresso, toffee, hop undertones, some dark fruits and liquorice emerge as it warms. Quite a lot of carbonation, a malty clingy finish. Very good.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
The color is black, foam nougat colored, dense and creamy. The aroma is partly smoked and sharp tones of roasted malt and licorice. The taste has an unexpected sour tone which I think comes from plenty of bitter hops. Coffee and liquorice and the aforementioned burnt malt takes over quickly and emphasizes that it is a powerful imperial stout. It’s pretty intense in its expression, but at the same time very tasty and challenging.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl bottle from some bottle shop somewhere in Belgium. Pours dark brown to black with a huge beige head. Roasty aroma with chocolate, dried, dark fruits, licorice, hints of coffee, spices, Belgian yeast, caramel and nuts. Medium sweet, surprisingly flavourful and quite complex. Finishes fairly bitter. Almost fizzy, at least very lively carbonation, a bit too much for my taste, but altogether a very nice beer.

DAAIÅ; (Drunk all alone in Ålborg) Drunk at Fermentoren. Bottle 33cl. Pours large, brown to black with a frothy creamy, lasting and lacing tan head. Nose is heavy roasted malt and fermented dark fruit, nuts, chocolate, coffee and light licorice. Taste is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter, balanced with a lasting roasted, dried dark fruit, warming, light spice and metallic finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily to creamy, carbonation is avarage to lively. Nice..

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aged bottle (? years). Aroma is coffee, brown sugar, burnt malts, hint of spice and some hints of oxidization, even in the nose. Pour is black with a moderate off-white head that recedes quickly. Flavor is, well, quite good (was a tad worried after the nose showed some signs of age...flavor tastes nice) - chocolate at the forefront...loads of chocolate. Hints of coffee and licorice. Lots of brown sugary malts - great flavor! Palate is rich and smooth...maybe a bit thin on the edges, but nothing bad. Yum - good brew...will have to try one fresh down the road!

From XXXII. In Duvel glass. After dinner. Better than the typical guinness stout thanks to its sugar. the coffee taste i dislike is only slightly appreciated in the aftertaste
