stouby (1405), Holbaek, Denmark May 5, 2008 Bottle at Kulminator.
Golden with a large white head, ok lacings. Aroma heavy malty (caramel, coriander), yeasty and hoppy. Flavor heavy sweet and a long bitter end. Medium/full body, the strength is felt.
mabel (1246), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 19, 2008 [1142-20080229] 330mL. Mild aroma has a bit of yeasty lead. Hazy, orange brown body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Boozy lead yeast flavour has a bitter dull grass characteristic to it. Medium body. Nice enough, mild, bitter.
(@ Kulminator; Antwerp, BE; w/ jerc) CapedBrewsader (174), Brasschaat, Belgium May 8, 2008 33cl. bottle at De Kulminator: I forgot to note down the bottle date! Light amber to orange beer with a thick and creamy off-white head. Big fruity aromas with pear and citrus fruits. Something sharp mixed in with the malt character, gets sharper just before citrus and hops come in. Flavor has a bit of a sharp yeast bite that seems to actually work with the citrus/orange flavors. Definite mineral character. Something odd with the malt in the flavor just like in the nose. I really can’t put my finger on it. It’s definitely not bad or even distracting, but I just can’t figure out what it is. Maybe a spicy or tannic grain note? Nice and hoppy especially towards the back end. Good dry and hoppy finish. armando629 (319), Budapest, Hungary Apr 25, 2008 I’ve spoken a little with the "brouwers", and they gave me this surprise. So the bottle was an old one, the cap was a little bit foxy (the couple said not to drink this old one, but i was forced upon to drink it by my curiosity...) It was like jerohen’s bottle...The beer has a beautiful appearance with an orange body and a huge foamy head, some freakish sediment. The nose is characteristic citrus-orange, spicey. The flavour is strong too with a powerful hop taste, rich in fruit aromas(sour orange). Dry mouthfeel, aftertaste. Beautiful character. And the brewery is managed by a married couple ... Nice, i have green eye. jerohen (1431), Amsterdam, Netherlands Mar 23, 2008 Bottled from cellar, best before June 2006, sampled May 2008 (aprrox. 5 years old). Hazy orange coloured, big lasting white head, absolutely beautiful. Complex spicy nose, very fruity. Spicy and alcoholic flavour, quite bitter. Super dry finish. Quite ’fresh’ after all these years, no obvious notes of aging; that said, i haven’t had a fresh one to compare. Well brewed, although not entirely my kind of beer.
