Bottle @ Brugs Beertje, Brugge. Appears very fizzy, clear golden, with a huge, lasting white head. Nice fruity aromas; sour green apples, dried apricot, citrus and spice. Gentle hops in the flavor, perfectly balanced with pale malts, sweet oranges, herbs and spices. Strong and filling palate. Dry fruity and slight bitter end. Another great beer from de Mad Brewers!

Bottle. 2003. Hazy yellow / orange color with a huge frothy good lacing fully lasting white head. Aroma is fruity, lemon, acidic. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light acidic and bitter with a average duration and a very good balance. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Very nice ;o))

A Mes rate: A generous offering from Joost. (thanks) A 1994 33cl bottle. I love De Dolle labels, even if they do cause a bit of a stir for their comedy value, I like them and this is one of my faves. Shame it was loosing its grasp on the bottle and giving up to bio-degradation. One of those I never bothered rating because you just think "well I must have done..." but low and behold I havent. Not particularly certain that at this age it’s a true representation of this beer, in fact I’m pretty convinced it’s not. Still mighty fine it is however. The nose has become very alcoholic with age but is backed up nicely by some spicy malt. Lovely deep deep amber colour with a thick chunky off white head settling to a thin bubbly film. Flavour is clearly showing the signs of age again with tangy and spicy malt with some lovely dusty notes settling in. Slight hint of liqourice also. Finish has a very delicate vanilla flavour but is mainly hard alcohol though some hops rush in right at the death to give balance. Palate is superbly smooth yet just a little prickly round the edges even at this age. What it has lost to father time in flavour has generally been nicely off-set by a wise old palate and a glorious depth to the apperance. Still very good indeed.

A hazy blonde orange ale with an extra thick creamy white head. I agree this is in Orval land! A funky pleasant aroma of Brett, earthy, and coriander. In mouth, a good spiceyness, with coriander, orange, a light creamy sweetness....a superb ale from De Dolle. Bought in Gent, Nov. 2006.

This one poured itself out of the glass onto highlandlad’s carpet, with about half the bottle left for us to drink. When it did reach the glass it proved to be a fairly cloudy yellow orange with a lasting head and a lot of lace. Funky aroma with a salty spanish olive quality that reminded me of Orval. Lovely balanced flavour with a bitter and salty mix. Satisfying medium bodied palate, with a warming spicy finish (thanks to highlandlad for sharing ;-)

While De Doller’s Dulle Teve is an excellent beer, De Dolle Oeral 2003 has a very strong flavor of yeast with an added bitterness. The overall flavor of this beer is musty and with very little aroma. It may be a crazy beer, but this is only due to it’s unnecessary exaggerated yeasty flavor, which makes it crazily unbearable to drink!

Golden orange in colour, very large and lingering white head, awesome lacing - typical from De Dolle. The aroma is very fruity, lots of yeast, lemon rind, quite spicy, noticable apple. The flavour is very musty with lots of yeast, bready malts, orange citrus, floral and spicy. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes very long, great lingering spiciness. Pretty good, another crazy beer from De Dolle.

330ml bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>Engelsmann, thanks Martin.
Bottle from 2003.

This is a 2003 version. The head is huge and lasting, leaving islands of foam. The color is hazy, light amber. The aroma makes me think of medicine and the flavour is difficult to describe, but I’ll try. It has notes of citrus and some kind of spice. It’s like a harsh, uncoated pill that clings to your mouth, and you are desperately trying to swallow. I also get notes of resin and mould. I simply do NOT like this one...
