Beershine (1214), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 14, 2008 Updated: Feb 27, 2008 2006 bottle at Uber in Seattle. Deep garnet color with small head and sporadic lace. Intense nose of berry, hop, earth, and cake. Absolutely stunning. Flavors include sour, bitter mingling together in an interplay that remains pure and unadulterated--just when it borders on being strange it comes back to reality. Like drinking a blackberry/chocolate cake. I love this brewery!
IlanMan (522), Winona, Minnesota, USA Aug 24, 2008 2006 bottle: Pour is a dark ruby/brown with a light fizzy head. Aroma is of dark sweet fruit, alcohol, and a sour character. Flavor is damn good with cherries, oak, malt, apples, and alcohol. Carbonation seems just about right. Alcohol is prevelent but not over-powering. The body is surprisingly light due to the addition of belgian sugar. Real good brew. Would buy again. paiste2002 (16), Saugus, California, USA Aug 24, 2008 Pours a hazy reddish brown with a big off white head. Some dark fruit, cherries, tart green apples in the aroma as well as some spice. Big complex flavor of dark fruit and sour apple balanced with a malty sweetness and a hint of oak. A touch of tartness in the finish. Another fine brew from De Dolle.
ucusty (1016), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 18, 2008 Vintage 2005. Thanks to Puzzl ( and everybody else that gave me all the vintages) for this! Dark garnet pour with fizzy tan head. Tart aroma. Full bodied and very complex. Nice and acidic flavor. Green apples upfront, grape on the finish. notable hints of oak, yeast, and caramel, Very dry blipp (713), Grand Island, New York, USA Aug 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours deep ruby with a beige head. Yeasty and vinous aroma with red grapes and green apple. Flavor has a bit of sourness and is quite dry. More apples and yeast. Nice, but I like the original Oerbier better. Jukkabro (2350), Tampere, Finland Aug 17, 2008 (2007 version) Deep dark red brown colored with medium sized light brown head. Vinous aroma with chocolate, spices and yeast also present. Mild glue distracts here. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is also vinous with biting lemony yeast, same glue here. Aftertaste dries with yeast. Slight disappointment.
