COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

Pours a caramel color with a tan head. Aroma of caramel, apple, and other fruit. Flavor is of fruit and a warm alcohol finish. A very flavorful and complex beer, I like this one.

Bottled 33cl from crackedkettle.com. It pours a hazy ruby beer with a nice creamy beige head. Cork, melon, apple, rose and cherry appearing the nose which is rather yeasty and faintly acidic. The taste is tart, yeasty, fruity (melon, cherry, blackberry and apple) with hints of oak and rose. Peppery, slightly salty. There is quite a bite to this beer. Subtle carbonation. Complex. Late bitterness. The alcohol is most noticeable on the swallow. Decent lacework. Surprisingly strong dry finish which is reminiscent of cherry, crackers and earthy hops. Very interesting and pleasant.

33cl bottle from Douceurs Belges. Pours really dark amber with huge creamy head. Lots of bubbles all around the head and great lacing. Head is very persistent. Palate is quite strong carbonation. Aroma is dark fruits, strong raisins, prunes and lactic. Taste is like aroma. Some lactic hints. Notes of alcohol but not much. Some hints of chocolate also. It took me some time to get used to the taste. Nice beer, very original. Will have to taste again.

Pours with a large, creamy, kahki colored head, over a murky, amber-orange body. Aroma is slightly metallic, yeasty, with banana, rum, brown sugar, light cardamon and chocolate. Taste is strong with rum, raisins, dark and slightly tart fruits, rotten fruit, chocolate and oxidation. Lively carbonation. I didn’t really like this too much, and it absolutely pales next to the Reserva.

Bel colore rosso-arancione.Ottima schiuma persistente. L’aroma non è molto complesso con sentori tostati e speziati. Gusto con caramello, alcool, malto, molta dolcezza.Buono il finale.

2003 bottle @ Kulminator (listed as being the last batch to use Rodenbach yeast). Pours muddy brown with thin, creamy whie head. Aroma of caramel and slight oxidation. Taste is very malty, more caramel and dark fruits. Medium palate and finishes sweet and long. Good stuff.

It pured a brown cloudy liquid with a small foam that left no lacing. The aroma was rich with spices and also had a hint of swamp. The flavor was rough and spicey with alot of carbon, hint of coca cola. A very interesting and good beer.
