COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

Massive gusher! Think I lost about a quarter of it. Thick creamy head, copper pour with quite a lot of floating yeast. Lots of raisins on the aroma, also spicy cloves, ginger, and candi sugar. Alcohol is reasonably well hidden. Something’s not right though, almost like bi-carb soda. Alcohol comes into play in the taste. Lost more rich raisin and spicy characteristics. Heaps of dark malts. Alas, the alcohol is a bit to dominant. Spot on carbonation, great amount of alcoholic heat on the palate.

bottle, foam was pooring from the bottle after opening, leaving a dark reddish liquid with huge head. Very nice and refreshing beer. fruity (cherry) but not too sweet, no hint of alcohol, tasteful, quite plain but very good nonetheless.

Bottle from Delirium in Brussels. Pours a deep hazy brown color with a very large beige head. Aroma is toasty malts, slight spice nuts, and fruits. Taste is sweet, tart, and smooth. Flavorings of spice fruits, malt sweetness, and all over a complex yeasty backbone. Very complex and enjoyable palate. Really enjoyed savoring this one.

Bottle. This one exploded on me and shot all over the ceiling, down the walls and all over the carpet! :( What I managed to get in my glass poured a nutshell brown with a red hued off-white head. The nose (and my apartment) has a little sour/funk to it with some cranberry hints. Flavors are bready, like rum soaked cake, nice malt profile, and a slight fruitiness and bubble gum to it. Ober-carbonate in the mouth and leaves a lingering cotton mouth.

33cl bottle. warning!!! this beer is explosive. probably the most gushing belgian i ever opened, even though i was sort of prepared i got beer all over the place (some in the glass). creates giant growing head, making it impossible to just pour it to stop the bottle spewing beer. i ended up with 15 out of 33 cl’s in my glass, the rest on the desk, on my trousers, on my shirt, out the window and a little in my keyboard. this yields a 1:1 in apperance, i prefer beers that doesn’t explode when opened. aroma is caramel and raisins. good stuff. flavor is raisins, light fruits, dark fruits, caramel, hops, well balanced and very tasty.

[1943-20090114] 330mL bottle. Plastic raisin malt aroma has a funky yeast characteristic. Hazy, dark brown body with a medium-lasting foamy light tan head. Fruity plum raisin cake flavour with brandy malt and heavy yeast. Full body. Enjoyable.

Beautiful hazy molasses-amber body with a billowing frothy head. Big malt complex, toasted bread with strong roasted marshmallow caramel sweetness. Smooth creamy chocolate notes, light peppery spice and a good lingering citrus hop bitterness. Fantastic drink.

11.2oz bottle from South Bay Drugs. Pours a cloudy amber color with a slight red tinge. A big off white head, that diminished quickly and left some spotty lacing. Nose was sweet and quite fruity. Flavor is also fruity with some spice, and can really taste the candied sugar. Finish was sweet and slightly boozy.
