Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

Again a original brew from de Dolle brouwers. Sweet, fruity and yeasty, but also hoppy and even a bit tardiness.

A- Pours a deep, ruddy brown hue with a huge, 3 finger off white head that leaves lots of lacing on the way down. S- Sweet apple, plum, grape T- Raisin, fig, sweet plum, lots of residual sweetness on the back end. M- Medium bodied with lots of carbonation. D- Seemed too sweet and too effervescent for me. Maybe some time on this one helps it come together.

Poured into tulip a brown color with decent off white head. One of the most interesting beers I have had, very complex. Aroma for me was roasted malts, some nut, wood, wine, all together it had an aroma similar to a good brewed soy sauce. Taste was similar to the aroma. the beer was yeasty and had a port or sherry flavor. Alcohol for me came late in the finish and was warming to some extant. The alcohol seemed well blended till that point. I get some soy sauce also in the finish. Med bodied and quite wet, a little too easy to drink, like that is a problem. Incredible.

Cerveza rojiza oscura, en cierta medida tiene un toque amargo pero queda dissimulado con el dulzor

Keg @ De Dolle Brewery bar, Esen. Pours a mahogany brown with roasted, dark malts, brown sugar, alcohol, nuts and a nice cloaking sweetness. Very interesting beer worth further inspection.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 6/2013. Pours very hazy deep ruby red color with a fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of pear, apple, raisin, plum, fig, white grape, caramel, candi sugar, bread, clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of fruity/earthy yeast ester and balanced dark/candi sugar malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, pear, apple, white grape, caramel, bread, candi sugar, clove, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of raisin, plum, pear, apple, fig, white grape, caramel, bread, candi sugar, clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity of fruity/earthy yeast with a good amount of dark/bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong dark ale. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
