Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. Oerbier ’13 vintage, consumed 151228 Pours a dark brown color with ember hints in it, revealing a giant, spongy head. Smells of spicy wheat, wood bark and rock sugar. Although it inherits a gentle sweetness, the beer got an earthy, almost oaken balance to it, featuring ripe red grapes and tart dextrose. Has a higher, lively carbonation to it, wrapping up the sweetness with a bubbly, metallic carbonation. Tastes of older, caramel soaked malts, topped off by fermented grapes, a decent sourness and rock sugar on top. Toffee turns more profound among the bubbly carbonation, coming up after the swallow, thinning the profound earthiness a bit, while maintaining its balance. Finishes clean, with a sour note among rock sugar and caramel, while the carbonation dies down to a likeable minimum. While it certainly features a well pronounced maltiness, the beers sweetness defines the overall taste of this beer. It doesn’t turn cloyingly sweet, due to the beers convincing balance, while it certainly lacks an appealipng depth of flavors to me, prevented by the omnipresent sweetness.

W aromacie lekka kwaśność czerwonych owoców (wiśnia, porzeczka, czereśnia), są też suszone owoce i winogron a w tle delikatna stajnia. Przyjemny i orzeźwiający. W afterteasie czerwony pieprz i prażone migdały. Wysokie nagazowanie, chwilę musujące w ustach jak szampan. Lekko szorstkie, ziemiste i sycące w odbiorze. Alkohol rozgrzewający, ładnie wkomponowany, odpowiedni do woltażu. Fermentacja spontaniczna dodała fajnych nut w aromacie i delikatnie podkręciła smak...

Ruby brown with large frothy tan head. Aromas of dried dates and figs, toffee, some alcohol. The taste is well balanced between sweetness and bitterness - plums, cherries, dates, dark candi sugar, some vinous notes, acidity and sour hints. Full bodied and lively on the tongue. Very interesting and enjoyable belgian strong.

Bottle from Belgian Beer Factory. Pours dark brown, nice smooth light brown head. Nose is caramel and brown sugar, dried fruits, some alcohol. Taste has lots of dried fruits, plums, lightly roasted malts, brown sugar, some bitterness, liquorice, sour and vinous notes, alcohol warming. Complex but still easy to drink. Excellent.

33cl bottle. Murky reddish brown, huge light beige. Aroma is very good, sweet and fruity with some light chocolate and butter notes. Taste is even better, wine notes, red fruits, some roastiness. Excellent.

Bottle. Hazy, dark red brown. Aroma has fruity malt, yeast and bananas, evident alcohol. Dried fruit flavour, caramel, warming alcohol and some sour notes well balanced by the sweetness. Creamy mouthfeel, tickling carb. Lovely BSA.
