COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8įC and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine Ö Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

33cl bottle at home. Clear amber with a small white soapy head. Medium to full body with low to moderate carbonation. Quite sweet with some bitter tones. Caramel, malts, brown sugar, ripe fruits, spices and warming alcohol. A tasty strong ale.

In bottiglia da 33cl. Colore bruno, schiuma fine, molto abbondante e persistente. Aroma di frutta secca, uvetta, nocciola. Al palato una nota calda ed etilica evidente con sentori di frutta secca, uvetta, leggero caramello. Finale che bilancia la dolcezza generale della birra.

Bottle @ home from De Dolle brewery, Esen - BE. Color: dark brown beer with small carbonation and small white foam. Smell: caramel and candy notes with well malt taste. Roasted malt. Taste: nice caramel and high malt domination. Great complexity, with small woody notes, and alcohol finish. Aftertaste: caramel and alcohol. Really nice but please meditate it, and take your time to enjoy it !

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2015 De Dolle Oerbier uitgeschonken in Oerbierglas.

Damn this is one fine dark Belgian ale. Iím incredibly impressed by itís creaminess, rich aroma and wonderful taste. Itís Palate is wonderful and leaves a very nice bitterness behind. Love it!

Not bad, but too much bread and yeast bulge. More precisely overlap everything else

Appearance is a murky light brown, with excellent lacing and a frothy head. Aroma is sweet candy sugars with some roasted malt. Taste is similar- quite sweet with malty tones. Palate is very good like all De Dolle beers- although not as creamy or smooth as Mad Bitch or Stille Nacht. A bit dry on the aftertaste. Overall its definetly a vert good ale as Ive come to expect from this brewery, but its not their best one.

For sure the best of the De Dolle triumvirate tasting from today. I think my rating may be skewed a bit high from perception - the reserve version of this is on the RateBeer Top 50 Belgium. But anyway - itís fantastic. High-ABV but drinkable. Probably sits somewhere between 8-10 on my scale but Iíll give it the benefit of the doubt with a 9 until next tasting.

330 ml bottle during Brussels vacation. Reddish amber with beige head. Aroma of malt, sour candy, light fruit, grapes and some soapy detergent notes. Taste is medium sweet, grapes, malty, sugars with a finish with grape peels and sugar.
