Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

Bottled; poured at home; direct pick-up from the brewery. Thanks Zombier for my brewery lift and to Anna and Joan for renting the car and driving me to the brewery! Poured a lovely baige lacing over a chestnut-brown colour. Aroma is fascinating. A lot of depth here. Wild brett; farmhouse aromas; hey; fresh dough; garden dew and spruce. Some clove and coriander and fruity yeast esters. Taste is ripe plums; burnt caramalisation; gorgeous wild berrys; tart plum; toffee; raisins and biscuit malt. Some wonderful use of brett and a little heavy on the tart. It’s a fascinating beer and another example of the wonderful craft which De Dolle is.

The taste and feel is sweet, soft and warm, with hints of caramel and red fruit. The smell is a whole other story though: it smells like sweet strawberry dairy drink, very fierse and sour. The smell doesn’t match the taste in my opinion.

Aroma: Pear, spice, caramel, dark fruits Appearance: mahagony colour, thin but stable foam Taste: sweet, cherry, burnt raisins, earthy hops, sourness Palate: full mouthfeel, dry finish, moderate carbonation Overall: very nice take on BDSA, i think it is a beer what would go well with food like stake or game

Een heerlijk bier, met de smaak van karamel en hop. Mag zich meten met Rochefort 10. Zeer vol en uitgebalanceerd.

Pours a cloudy dark amber brew with a huge reddish head with good retention. Aroma of brown sugar, roasted nuts, candy sugars, figs and grapes, with notes of spices and yeast. Taste is overripe grapes and yeast together with stonefruit with a slight sourness in the finish

Flaske fra Belgisk Bryg, delt med Ovesen mens esb-vørteren kjølner: gusher raskt brakt under kontroll. Høyt storboblet beige skum som legger seg til en film. ABV is 9%.

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 03.04.15. A gusher. Nutty brown. Huge and foamy pale brown head. Aroma of ripe berries, dried berries and fruit and some malt. Similarly fine and fruity taste. Complex, while easily drinkable. Very carbonated.

Donker Amber kleurig bier met een witte schuimkraag. Smaak het zoete van aardbei en rozebottel en een minimale bitter afdronk. Gehad als kado voor Thijmen.
