Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

It’s caramel, spices, light malts beer with a mild bitter finish, that doesn’t linger long.

Belle mousse. On ne sent pas les 9%. Agréable à boire. Bière fraîche, elle rapelle le champagne

On tap at Sergio's World Beer. The pour is a nice ruby-ish amber color with a thin ring of tannish head and no lace. The aroma is great. Apple, pear, light sweet cherry, and a bit of lemony or orangey citrus. The flavor is more belgian. The fruits are there, and there is the distinct yeastiness. The flsvors are mellow, but pretty good. The mouth feel is a bit light, and I wish there was a little more carbonation. The aftertaste is lingeringly fruity and just delicious. Not bad at all! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at Groote Witte Arend, Antwerp. Had this beer loads of times but first time actually rating it. Pours a murky dark brown with a massive small bubbly tan head. Aroma of malts, light citrus, overripe dark fruit and light aniseed. The palate is where it really stands out with a Champaign like feel, small light bubbles dancing around on your tongue and brining out the flavors. Over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Light full bodied with that lovely champagne like carbonation.

Brown beer, beige head. Nose is malty, some caramel, yeast and spice notes´, milk chocolate. Flavor is sweet, sugary, dried fruit, raisins, chocolate, roasty-toasty notes and alcohol. Very nice balance, great stuff. Bottle shared by martjoobolut, thanks!

Splendida bevuta.

I think it had originally pours a clean amber, but once I got to the bottom of the bottle, it looked a murky red-brown with visible clots of yeast sediment floating around. Yum! 1.5 inches of dust head froth that fades at a moderate rate. Snap, crackle, pop! Aroma is bread crust and tart cherry, pear and apple, bit of raisin and spice. Hint of soap in there as it warms. Body is light, watery up front with a slightly oily finish and a prickly wave of carbonation. Flavor is bread, bread crust, some apple, spice, and even a bit of yeasty moldy cheese. Spicy finish. I’m wondering if I should have been more careful with that sediment, yet it still very good. Interesting BSA. I’m not exactly sure what to compare it too; maybe other De Dolle beers. At first I felt it was a bit watery and had an aftertaste that was more bitter than yummy, but as it warms its complexity (of spice, raisin, midway through taste) is coming through, retaining a high score.
