COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. Quite some carbonation with taste of caramel, citrus and malt all over. Rather nice with a medium thickness in the mouth and an ok sweet and aftertaste. I hopes in more complexity.

11.6oz bottle from World of Beer (Largo, FL). Pours a dark brown with one finger tan, frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is sweet and spicy with notes of caramel, bread, yeast, yogurt. Flavor is initially sweet and sour that gives way to a burst of ripe fruit, tart, earthy and malt notes, and a lingering sweet, earthy finish. Medium-bodied.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2008 dark, redish amber ale with copious head. Cloudy with noticeable yeast. Fizzy and lively in the mouth. The aroma is difficult to describe, you could say it smells of oxide and sour apple candy. The predominant flavor is of green apples with some spices. There is a good balance of hops and sourness. This beer should belong in a category of it’s own, I have never tasted anything with a similar taste. A good beer nonetheless. B+

First of mine from De Dolle. Lots of carbonation. Hazy brown amber pour with a large fizzy head. Lots of malt and sour darkfruit in the nose. Flavor is a nice balance of bittersweet and sourness. Smooth fizzy palate. Impressive.

Bottle. Pours deep ruby brown with a beige head. Whiskey-like aroma with dark fruit, plum and wood. Medium body. Flavor is a brilliant balance of dark sour fruits and woodiness. Sourness is pronounced, but restrained. Very nice.

Bottle. I didnt enjoy this in any length as much as the reserva. Pours an amber cloudy body with a big off white head. Aroma is sweet and malty in the flavor as well. Then woodiness but what ruins the funk for me is the hoppiness that come in to dominate the finish. I could do without all this.

11.2 oz bottle from Stumpie’s in Gainesville. This is my 3rd De Dolle beer. Very impressive. These guys could probably ferment owl pellets and it would at least be palatable. Flavor of strong caramel and red apple. Some hoppy bite at the end. Not DD’s best, but very good.

Bottle. This was my first De Dolle brew I’ve ever tried, and it wasn’t disappointing. It pours a dark amber color and has a sweet malty aroma backed by caramel and yeast. It has a similar flavor and great mouth feel with it’s heavy carbonation.
