COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

Wonderful beer. Definitly among the best Belgians I’ve had. Love the aftertaste, a long enjoyable ride. Had it a couple times at Cafe Bastille in Taipei from bottle

33cl bottle. APPEARANCE: dark brown beer, nice stable beige head. Little gusher though... NOSE: burned malts, plum, some wood, red grapes, almost like red wine? somewhat sweet. TASTE: wow! very nice sweetness balanced about with a slight fruity alcoholic aftertaste! Goes down smoothly. Amazing beer!

Achetée à Saveur Drink, Une incroyable mousse dense et persistante qui surmonte une belle robe brune. Arômes de caramel et de prune, saveurs fruitées et boisées, notes vineuse. Final acidulé. Un grand classique !

The foam of this beer is wonderfull, stays very long, and remains thick. It has a sour flavour, which is also appearing in the taste. It is a very open beer for his kind. The taste is fruity, and the alcohol is masker very well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma’s van azijnzuur, bloemen en zure melk vormen een complexe geur die leidt naar fruitige nasmaak die lang doorzindert.

Really neat little sour brown beer with a light brown pour and a beige head. The nose has a light fruity aroma with slight sourness and a bit of roasted malts. Sweet caramel and fruity flavours with a light pervasive sourness. Very well balanced and complex plus its super unique.

Cerveza oscura y con espuma densa. Olor afrutado, piña y algo floral. Sabor especiado, picante, grano de cafe, chocolateado. Calienta la garganta. Gran cuerpo, gran balance, y perfecta de gas. Muy recomendable. Mejor no muy fria.

Bottle poured in a Teku glass. Brown with dark red lights, creamy hazel foam. A complex beer perfectly balanced with a sweet end.

330 ml bottle, poured into a tulip glass at home. ABV 9% Beautiful colour, something betwwen of dark ruby red and caramel/amber brown. Big froathy hed, beige in colour, slowly collapsing leavinf no lacing on the glass. Aroma seems a bit boring at first, with just some caramek in it, but after a swirl of the glass, a bouquet of different aromas surfaces. Smells a bit sour, with white grapes, very wine-y, but after a while the aroma turns to a sweet one, with red grapes this time, caramel and sugars. Some hints of the alcohol as well between sniffs. All in all, very complex aroma. Great taste, also very wine-like. The complexity is present on the taste as well, with a very light sourness at first, turning quite fast to a mildly sweet taste. Lots of grapes in there, some caramel too on the finish. Very well hidden alcohol. Medium thin body, good amount of carbonation, really smooth. A tart feeling on the palate.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with maybe a slight amber hue. Big frothy head that fades normally but never completely goes away. Fruity aroma, plums, cherries, raisins, and some bread too. Taste starts with a light sweetness, lots of dark dried fruit. Finishes with a nice light tartness. Berries and raisins in the finish. A little foamy and fizzy in the mouthfeel but it goes away so fast that it doesn’t bother me much. Medium to thick body. Overall, its a very nice Belgian Strong. I think I would like this better with some age on it. Carbonation would fade and the flavors would get richer.
