Commercial Description:
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

This was a mystery label beer when I purchased it. IE the lable was missing. Proper thanks to yayforbeer for solving the mystery. I poured this thing into a tulip styled glass. head exploded on me like some sort of atomic bomb. retains like a bloody iceburg, sitting there, wiggling, staring. punk...Laces like the foam on a winters day at the beach Got some floaty biznuz at the bottom. kinda like goldschlager. Malty an red grape bite with a bit of grapefruit. This is my 3rtd and last beer for this evening and hrm...maybe should have started off with this. This thing is racking my brain. yum. need some food.

Crushed with Jakebra. Highly carbonated creates a great mouthfeel. Reminiscent of a kinda sparkling little kids wine on new years kinda stuff on the nose. A pleasant beer, but not incredible.

Stunning chestnut brown pour with luscious pillowy head. Gorgeous. Brandyish toffee, fruited nose with a green apple boozy cherry quality. Vineous body with a figgy chewed yeast and salivating tartness developing mid to late palate. Thies yeilds an earthy toasted fruit finish. Layered flavors and nice complexity. All together this brew brings the funk sauce. ... Nice.

pours a very hazy orangish-brown with a massive foamy brown head. dark fruit, light yeast, some sweet cola-ish caramel and molassess. Mouthfeel is intensely carbonated at first. Flavour is dark nutty malt, sweet again with a hint of cola going into a pretty tart finish. No sign of the 9%...

Sampled at Kelk in Brugge. Cloudy brown color.Dark fruitiness on the nose. Smooth on the palate. Molasses, almond nuttiness, and caramel malt. Some alcohol presence. Good complex brew.
