Commercial Description:
Oerbier means original, from the spring. This beer has been brewed in small scale (5 gallons). Oerbier is brewed from no less than 6 malts. Poperinge Golding hops in flowers and a special yeast which makes it a little tart, especially with aging. At the brewery we have excellent cellars which have a constant temperature of 8°C and allow Oerbier to age at its best. After a couple of years Oerbier tastes like it should have been blended with wine … Oerbier has been refermented in the bottle and contains a layer of yeast, having vitamins B. NAT en STRAF on the glasses means WET and STRONG, a warning for the 7.5 vol. alcohol content. The little person on the glasses is the Oerbier man, a simple creature who holds a brewers fork in his right hand, symbolizing the work and science, but looking to the other side, the result of all this, the glass of (Oer)beer. The artwork on the poster is a wallpainting found in Spain, (Altamira) and is considered by art lovers as being the best prehistoric art work (30,000 years BC). On the other hand we have Oerbier started in 1980, going on with the tradition. For more information on Oerbier's recent recipe history, see the following article: http://www.bunitedint.com/Products/de_dolle/oerbier-re_evolution.html

dark brown with large tan head. flavor is of caramal malt with candy sugar present. the beer is powerful but doesnt really develop the complexity and depth i had expected. the finish is a little sour. i feel as though this beer could have aged a few years to become something

Bottle from Sams in Chicago. Pours out an amazing thick cream colored head, I mean this gave me a pour with 90% head. The body is a fizzy light brown. The aroma is full of sweet candies and rich fruits. The taste was full of fruits; sour cherries, strawberries, also a massive chocolate and yeast balance. The body is fizzy and full. Some metallic and near bitter notes in the finish. Very well balanced, and so damn good. One of my favorite BSAs for sure. Just lovely.

Bottle...nice lacing...dainty but present...cloudy brown body with a tan head that has a dark tone to it...sweet yeast and a touch of cherries in the nose...initial mouth feel sweet, but the sugars seem real hearty--almost like brown sugar...a tartness to entire presence of this brew--light yet complex...I can dig it ...a little one dimensional , but good

its a gusher that pours with a giant rootbeer head. It settles at a moderate pace and does not go away fully. Aroma of ripe cheese and malt. Yeasty flavor and full boddied. Floral and tart.

Milk chocolate brown, seriously thick rootbeer float head. Sediment chillin on the bottom of my glass, some stuck in head. Dark toffee, malt, coffee notes.

12oz bottle. Incredible beer. Pours a golden color with a tall long lasting white head. As with all De Dolle, this was a gusher. Nose of spicy fruit, yeast and some awesome sour funkiness. Taste has some strong spicy peppery notes but no real hops in this one. Its got a very sweet finish with a nice tartness in the middle. Not much sour here but the funkiness of the yeast comes through in the tartness. Can’t wait to try the Reserva.
