skortila (2479), Bunnik, Netherlands Sep 21, 2002 Nice appearance, quite dark, lots of bubbles, lasting head. Smell is sweetand malty. Taste is sweet (chocolate) and roasted in the beginning, complex palate, a little alcoholic perhaps.
awaisanen (1189), Irvine, California, USA Dec 4, 2008 From a 330mL Bottle. Mostly cloudy, dark ruddy caramel colored body with a huge head of fizzy ivory.
Aromas of pale chocolate and banana yeast esters float from the glass along with wisps of coconut. Slighty nutty
malt character with notes of teething biscuit. Awesome perfumey yeast character. Light bodied, heavily
carbonated mouthfeel with a crisp, dry texture. Flavors of banana and raisins wash over the palate in an
invigorating, cleansing scrub. Incredibly dry, but still takes the time to develop an awesome malt melanoiding
character, brimming with raisins, plums, and other dark fruits. The fruitiness of the malt is complimented
beautifully by the yeast, which brings out faint pepper, banana, and enhancing plummy fruit characters. An
extended finish of rummy fruits is left lingering on the palate. Who says you have to have a sticky, syrupy mess
to have flavor intensity? This beer rocks. Chrism86 (115), Melbourne, Australia Nov 27, 2008 Pours muddy brown with a substantial cream coloured head. Aromas of malt and yeast dominate bringing choc-caramel and banana. Palate shows much of the same with a big hit of licorice and spice from the high abv, not unbalanced but definately shows. Some earthy hop bitterness is on the finish to add another dimension. TheGrandMaster (1526), Auckland, New Zealand Nov 27, 2008 Bottle (in NZ), a gusher! Pours a cloudy brown with a large foamy yellowish head. A musty aroma with banana and spice. A full malty palate, plenty of spice and alcohol. Banana medicine flavour, with marmalade and some chocolate bitterness. I’m sure this would be better without the travel. daknole (1131), Plantation, Florida, USA Nov 21, 2008 Bottle from Brother Tuckers. Brownish pour wtih a medium head. Aroma is nice with fruit, yeast and very malty. the flavor didnt match the great aroma for me. The bottle I had was somewhat bitter and not a pleasant hop bitterness, but a weird bitterness. It made me think I had a bad bottle??
