3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted 8/14/11, bottle thanks to DStructo. Pours gorgeous clear caramel, ruby red, almost vinous in the light. Huge fluffy off-white head, with medium retention and copious lacing. Nose has notes of sherry, tart apple, musty wood. Mild signs of age and oxidation fade as the beer warms, and tartness becomes more evident and sweeter in nature, melding with slight alcoholic spice. Taste is initially sweet, lemon-like with caramel undertones. Evolves into a funky sherry-type profile, slightly tart, vinous, ending dry with musty malts, subtle spicy bitterness, long aftertaste of vanilla, wood on the breath. Round and balanced, but thin in the mouth. Overall glad to to have tried this treat- it still has some nice complexity, but age is definitely showing, not necessarily for the better.

Bottled 750ml PBFVIII
Tnx lusikka. Hazy orange deep amber color, small white head. Cellary, fruity aroma. Medium-bodied. Ok, some cellary notes but besides that De Dolle yeast, fruity, alcohol, liquerish palate. Orginally a great beer and even now very good.

75 cl bottle @ PBF 2013. 2000 vintage. Thanks lusikka!
Pours hazy orange color with a small head. Aroma of sour fruits, yeast, cellar, some berry notes and faint grapes. Flavor of grapes, mild apricot, caramel, yeast, some wood and goose berries. Feels and tastes very old, mildly oxidized. Quite nice still after all these years.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle. Vintage 2000.
Pours a dark copper amber colour with a white head. Aroma of cellar, mold, lingonberries, yeast and some mild caramel notes. Flavour is rather rich with some caramel notes, tart lingonberries, herbs, yeast, tart citrus and some oxidation, unfortunately. Medium bodied, dry mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Finishes dry, tart, citrusy and berryish. After 13 years this is still in a reasonable condition. Cellary notes are present, but not too much, and maybe some oxidation notes as well.

75 cl bottle vintage 2000 @ PBF VIII. Thanks lusikka!
Aroma has moldy cellar, some cardboard and caramel. Flavour is tart with malty notes, some berries, moldy cellar and hints of bread. Interesting mix of De Dolle house aroma, aromas of a beer too old and tartness. Not sure if past its present or not.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Split rating from the old special brouwsel entry, had both the original and the 20 years anniversary version. Pours beautiful deep amber and with a nice offwhite head. Aroma is fruity and cherry, extremely smooth and inviting with a mild whiff of caramel malt beneath. Smooth phenolic and cherry flavoured, yet so perfectly balanced. Complex wineous smooth finish - just fantastic!

Bottle at Dunderölsprovning 2012. Hazy brown liquid with medium off-white/light brown head. Aroma of dust, light apples, light vinegar, toffee, port (maybe some cardboard), spices and a bit lacto. Taste is light sweet and light to medium sour with notes of some toffee, vinegar and port. Meidum bodied with medium carbonation. Balanced, but too old. Stille enjoyable though.
