Crosling (1660), Loveland, Colorado, USA Nov 21, 2004 Orange Leather. Aroma of butter toffee, red licorice, vinegar, caramel, candy sugars, wet oak, apples and wine stained wood. Funky, complex flavor. Strong De Dolle character (I can say that now since I’ve had all but one.) Juicy fruitiness (pear, plum, green apples), wood and a touch of sourness. A very good beer but it wasn’t everyhing I was hoping it would be. Thanks Ernest.
yespr (6943), Copenhagen O, Denmark Oct 12, 2008 37.5 cL bottle in a fantastic vertical of Still Nacht beers at Kulminator together with Ask, Jes, Jens and Rasmus - cheers guys! We actually started out with the special. Pours beautiful deep amber and with a nice offwhite head. Aroma is fruity and cherry, extremely smooth and inviting with a mild whiff of caramel malt beneath. Smooth phenolic and cherry flavoured, yet so perfectly balanced and unbeliving "alive" after so many years. Complex wineous smooth finish - just fantastic! miketd (375), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Sep 22, 2008 Bottle shared by Nelson at the Cleveland tasting. Pour is coppery rust with not much head. Aroma is yeasty and earthy...smells like a cellar. Flavor is subtle and musty.Dont get any sourness at all, but maybe it is me. I think this bottle was past its prime. bierkoning (4935), La Tropica, Netherlands Sep 15, 2008 1980 version, tasted @ Kulminator, september 9th 2006. Aroma and flavor have porto, cherry juice and a very soft malt character. Has lost all its carbon, but not its bite. Caramel, lemon and cherry in the flavor. The alcohol remains totally unnoticed. Absolutely great beer.
