COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The 20th anniversary ale of the renowned De Dolle Brouwery.

Not to be confused with De Dolle Speciaal Brouwsel 1-Malig Verjaardag from 1980/1982 (that you probably had at Kulminator).

Bottle @ Kulminator, Antwerpen, Belgium. Clear light to medium brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is vintage, sherry - port, light alcohol, wood. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet, light bitter and acetic (vinegar) with a average to long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily / syrupy, carbonation is flat. Very nice ;o)) (121207)

A very explosive beer. The color is hazy red and it has huge fast disappearing orange head. The aroma is sweet with notes of wood, yeast, alcohol, and prunes, but also a sourness, as if it is too old. The flavor is acidic with notes of alcohol, red currant, grapefruit, and a dry hoppy end. The acidity draws out the mouthwater. It seems as if this beer is over the top - but it is still a very nice beer. Thanks to Mads Berg for sharing this.

Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 25, 2005
UPDATED: JUN 6, 2005 (Bottle: 75 cl) Very orange beer with visible impurities. Head is extremely thick, almost like whipped cream. First impression of the flavor is sour (like a gueuze) but underneath I definitely sense the added candi-sugar. Furhermore it has a distinct, dry bitterness. This beer has this musty, foxed way about it, which is quite typical for the small Belgians. 091102

Orange coloured, pours extremely lively with rich, firm head. Acidic near lambic-ish aroma. Oaky and balsamic, extremely drinkable for an 8% ale. Balanced and immensly flavourful.

fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - AUG 6, 2004
Bottled 10/2000 (and bought in Brussels, 11 Sept 2001)
Muddy copper color, explosive bottle. Sweet and sour aroma, cellar, wood, some vanilla. Sweet, malty, strong, light fruitness, high woodiness, some sourness. Excellent but maybe too woody (and just a bit too bitter at the end).

(750 ml bottle) Pours a cloudy amber body with a large rocky off-white head. Sour aroma. Acidic palate. Mild tart flavor. Excellent! Thank you for sharing TChrome!

Ruddy orange-amber colour. Grape, cherry and Rodenbach in the nose. Tart body - mostly clean but there is a slight acetic note. Spice? Some caramel undertones to support the woody tartness.

BIG tan head atop a murky orange-red body filled with floaties. Aroma is sour cherry, prune and grape. Taste is sour, acidic, cherry, prune. Not quite as pleasant as the nose leads me to believe, but still nice.

Bottled: Cork explodes out of the bottle. Dark amber coloured. Unclear. Huge beige dense head. Lasting. Plums, alcahol, spices and yeast in the aroma. Flavour is fruity (plums again and prunes) with a good subtle sweetness. Has a somewhat acidic or citrusy note. I’m not happy to admit it, but I think this beer is a little over the top. I bought it at Le Bier Circus in Bruxelles for 18€, which given the taste maybe were a little too much. But on the other side, I would have thought about this beer for a long time, had I not bought it.
