Pours ambery orange with a white head and light carbonation. Smells vinuous with a brilliant blend of spice, tartness, some signature De Dolle house character. Taste is complex and amazing. The best beer I have ever had from this brewery, and I have had quite a few amazing beers from them. Iím glad I have 3 more bottles of this one.

Top bier! Mooi van kleur, aan de smaak kun je goed merken dat het op hout gerijpt heeft. Blij dat ik in de buurt van Esen was. Misschien wel het beste bier van de afgelopen jaren!

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2013 I was looking forward to trying this beer & I am still hoping to get a full bottle of this @ some point. While I do admire the regular version, the 2005 Reserva & the special variation, I am not necessary the biggest fan of those beers but still the reputation, hearing that this one is sour and listening about how this was made piqued my interest & they are certainly a great brewery. Tried a bit thx. to Belgbeergeek & tried some again @ 18th Christmasbeer festival in Essen. Both times from a 75 cl. bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a light red orange colouring plus some white bubbles. Smell is sweet yoghurt from the base beer (always the fascinating defying characteristic of the base beer for me) blended with wood, some wine alcohol & strong wine presence with sweet fruits and caramel. Taste is sweet yoghurt, berries, strong wood presence, lactic, wood is very heavy, it very drying, very dry red wine blending in with the base beer, perfectly controlled oxidation but most of all, the red wine characteristic blend in perfectly with the base beer, the kind of red wine aging I like as opposed to real red wine, soft red grapes, wine and mellow tannins, sugar sweetness and sweet sugary red wine touches. Quite fascinating, this has soaked in so much wine characteristics & properties. First bottle I tried, I dug more, bit fuller. Second one is lovely thin & very woody body, very drying. It is sure something else, beyond the base beer. This will clearly improve, look forward to coming this one across again hopefully. /// Had it again 6 months later, twice, lots of sour yoghurt in an incredible way now in this beer. Much better now, spectacular beer. // tried it again now, more pronounced, integrated sour / barrel character, this beer just keeps getting better, increased score from 4.8 to 4.9 ///// Tried again @ Kerstbierfestival in Essen 2013. So much thinner now, lighter, unique unified vinous, oxidated (best kind) profile. No notes, very curious how this one will evolve, did it peek last time I tried it? Still excellent but not 4.9 at the moment.

Bottle from spuyten duyvil.. Thank you may I have another.. Pour is a crystal clear orange/rose with very little head.. Sits like wine in the glass.. No lacing.. Light shines this up like a diamond. Aroma is heavy oak, white grapes, red grapes, wine, wood, tobacco, pear, apple.. Taste is sweet fruit.. Prunes, dates with oak, wine, some tart, pear, some light cherry, leather, tobacco. Light sweet mouthfeel with a short dry finish. Beer has def taken alot of flavor from the barrel.. Almost a tannin feel on the tongue. Very light and complex fruit blend dominated by prune and pear. Wine finish. Overall an unbelievably perfect beer that could be even better and smoother with age.. One of the best I've had

Very very complex beer. Low carbonation, almost no foam. Complex aroma: sweet, bitter, and sourish. Notes of port, wine, sherry, honey, herbs. Long aftertaste. Very good beer.

750 bottle from a PUBíR sergeant shared at Craft Ale House Tuesday Beer Share. Pours turbid dark straw, effervescent, with minimal off-white head. Looks great. Nose is tropical fruit, hops, chardonnay, oak, a wonderful olfactory overload. Tastes complex, with funky yeasty tropical esters, hops, chardonnay white grapes, some tartness, and extremely well hidden alcohol. This is a rare gem that shines brightly.

From a bottle at Zeebra II. Golden orange colour on the body, slighty hazy, with small off-white head on top. Very good retention, light lacing left on the glass. lighty sour aroma, grape-y, peaches, abit of yeast, somehting that I canít exactly recognize but itís very appealing and refreshing, difficult to resisit in taking a sip. Taste follow the aroma, with lots of peaches, sweet malts that are balanced by a toch o sourness, old wood, sugars, yeast, lots of wine notes, white grapes. Medium thin bod, carbonation towards the high side. Moderate dry on te palate. In just two words, just great.

750mL bottle at Kulminator, pours a cloudy orange amber with a slowly receding voluminous beige head. Aroma is incredibly complex, full of deep red wine notes, toffee, some dark fruits and Belgian yeast -- very deep and multilayered. Flavour matches accordingly with an incredibly complex spectrum of notes, with red wine barrels, toffee and dark fruits. So many layers to this. The red wine barrels accentuate the base beer remarkably well, creating a very deeply complex beer. The ABV is almost completely hidden, with only a mild burn and wonderful warming effect. Outstanding stuff. World class beer.
