4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 5, 2012 330mL at the Kulminator, Antwerp. Whoa. Pours a clear blonde (unclear with the yeast) with a fluffy white head that leaves outstanding lace. Aroma is funky, a bit sour, some prominent orange peel, tamarind, vanilla extract, orange liquor/Grand Marnier. Very different. Taste is unreal: rich, buttery, refined rum warming alcohol with tamarind candies, unfiltered honey, rum raisin gelato. Very sweet but complex. I’ve never tried anything like this. 3/16/2010 9/5/9/5/16=4.4
330mL. Pours clear golden with a fizzing out, off-white head. Nose is super intense creme brulee, butterscotch, coconut cream, sticky calvados. Wow. Taste is boozy, warming, thick, spicy vanilla. Really special warming beer- incredible body for a blonde beer. 2/4/2012 9/4/8/5/17=4.3

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Keith I think. Rating #327. Clear copper pour with practically no head to speak of. Fruity aroma, grapes are the first one that comes to mind. Big and boozy with a slight fruitiness, wine and a little woody. Not bad. (2802)

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ Kulminator. Clearish blonde with a thick white head. Aroma is spicy, sugar, beets and apparent oxidization. Flavor is spicy yeast esters, sugary malt, citrus peel and alcohol. Medium body. Wow, not what I expected at all, the oxidization is expected for a 8 year old beer but it had a weird beet aroma that I couldn’t get past.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Torst.
Barely any head; poor retention. Tastes like a boozy, honey-infused barleywine. Sweet bready malt bomb, plenty of alcohol behind the flavor. Good, but not worth seeking out. Totally different from the 2010, and yet far inferior.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at Mikkeller Bar, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, sour fruits, some turpentine, and paint thinner. Flavour of white wine notes, turpentine, oak barrels, and Belgian yeast. Super complex, but too much paint thinner quality, on top of the vinous notes. Way overrated. Not of top tier as the ratings suggest.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Enjoyed bottle at Torst. The secret to its preservation is the honey, and that was big in the taste. Orange and golden bodied. Not boozy but its a big beer. With the honey is cloves, champagne yeast, other spice and a hint of vin tannin. Smooth, A little bitterness in the finish. Not as interesting or different as marketed and pricey, still a nice one.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared with Bruce and Leighton at DHVL, 22/03/13.
Hazed mid golden with a medium sized off white head that retains well.
Nose carries sweet brown sugar, burnt rubber, almonds, dark toffee, light must, touch of alcohol.
Taste comprises sugars, booze, marsh mellows, toffee, background fruits.
Fullish boied, touch of booze in the finish.
Decent but wouldn’t part with as much cash to try this again.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Torst with David and dallas. 2005 vintage. Pours a hazy orange body with thin white lacing. Aroma is lots of spice, candy, hop and funk. Mouthfeel is super active With notes of sour dark fruits, spice, light cocoa and faint hop. Incredible complexity. Although, $70 for a 12ounce..... Uh who do you like? Hullo?

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had from the bottle at Kulminator. Pours clear golden orange with a thin white head. The nose is dusty tropical fruit, has some chemical notes to it. Not what I was expecting. The taste is very sweet with a little bitter mixed in. The mouthfeel is sticky and dry, the body is light and the finish is long. Not sure what to think about this, I like it, but I like the version without the rodenbach yeast better.
