Pours light cloudy amber with large white head. Aroma is hops, sweet malt and spice. This brew is powerful, in your face with flavor. Maybe a bit much bite for me right now. Brings hops, spice, fruit and alcohol in the finish. Solid brew I’ll have to get a fe more of these and try and lay them down for awhile. BMan1113VR (2981), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 29, 2008 2005 Bottle. Pours with a large, creamy, slightly off-white head covering a cloudy orange body with a couple of big yeasty particles floating around. Great retention from the head and some alcohol legs left on the side of the glass. Aroma is complex of champagne, cinnamon, wood, orange peel, and some other spices. Taste is very strong, fruity, spicey, and a lot of alcohol with a yeasty finish. Highly carbonated with sharp bubbles. Very explosive with each sip. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours rich honey amber with no head. Smell is tart, sweetness and almost a salty twinge. Taste is sweet and very lightly tart, but nice and malty. Slightly full bodied and lightly but not overly syrupy in texture which surprised me for a 21 year old brew! Pretty tasty. Thanks again Mike! mattmc1973 (313), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 26, 2008 330ml bottle, poured golden brown with a white foam head, that left some nice lacing. Beautiful aroma of malt, dark fruit, candied sugar, and apple. Taste is sweet and slightly acidic. Slightly fizzy and very smooth mouthfeel. Overall quite similar to, and on par with, Rochefort 8. A very good beer. bboeckl (135), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 26, 2008 Bottle, pours a hazy golden amber with a thick foamy slightly cream colored head.
Aroma, is that of caramel, cotton candy and vinegar. Taste is a powerful isopropal alocohol, touch of vinegar, a bit of citrus, sourness, and a mustiness that one has come to expect with a Belgium Ale. This beer is a great example of its style. A better beer for winter than summer... as it lacks some of the refreshment character of similar styles. A bit to heavy and high powered for a hot day. Great beer none the less.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2008 Pours a golden honey color with a huge bubbly head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is yeast, light malts, funky sour fermented fruit and wheat. Not great. Flavor is an eyebrow-raiser - it packs a lot more in than the aroma lets on. Sweet fruits, notes of sour fruits (apples), spices, yeast, light malts and *lots* of alcohol. It hits you right away (along with the high carbonation), and while the flavor of the beer is strong enough (and good enough) to power through it, there’s quite a bit of alcohol burn, here. Finishes dry, but sticky. This would age extremely well, taking the edge off the burn... but it’s a little too fresh right off the shelf.
