Sweet nose, bit of booze. Golden with yeast in suspension. Taste the booze, good yeast profile and finishes with a hop kick.

330 mL bottle. Kind of an unappealing, hazy brown with floaties, but it has a nice, off-white head. Fairly bold aroma has spice, Belgian yeast, fruit, and some candy sweetness. Surprisingly smooth taste, and not as sweet as I expected. There is candied fruit, spice, honey, yeast, and just the slightest note of booze. Shockingly drinkable. Big body. I had to keep reminding myself to just take sips.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Light brown beer with no head. Aroma of toffee, caramel and malts. Taste is toffee, quite a bit of caramel, hops, spicy fruit, pepper and some sweet golden syrup. There is some alcohol warmth. This beer seems to improve the more you sip it. Full bodied and low carbonation Very unlike the other strong Belgian beers I have tried before. Overall, very good and interesting.

2004 vintage tasted in 2014. Stored properly for the last 10 years. Deep copper with a nice large collection of floaters on the bottom. Yeast? The colour is beautiful, no head. Smells of super sweet toasted malt. Figs, caramel, raisin, nut, orange, alcohol, nice soft spice. Full oily body. Initial sweet taste of caramel and toasted malt but then settles into a medium roast in the mouth with figs, alcohol and finishes nutty, complex spice and a bit of alcohol. Warms the tummy. Aftertaste is fruity and spicy. One of the most dynamic beers I’ve seen. At 12% the alcohol is still noticeable after 10 years who isn’t a bad thing. Defiantly a a Christmas beer to sit by the fire and eat chestnuts with. Very nice. Would like to compare to a young one. Defiantly one of the top beers in the world.

Look: deep amber and cloudy with an small off-white frothy head with poor retention.
Aroma: dried fruit, raisins, rich malty and grainy, alcohol.
Taste: dried fruit, raisins, strong phenolic bitterness, the alcohol is a bit over the top.

Heerlijk bier met een verraderlijk hoog alcohol percentage. Een van de beste bieren die ik heb geproefd.
