4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Vintage 2013. Mala pianka drobinki osadu rozchodzace sie po pokalu. Kolor ciemno zlocisty aromatyczny pigwowy i nieco biszkoptowy. W smaku slodkawe, ale z przelamaniem goryczkowym. Finisz dlugi zalepiajacy podniebienie rozgrzewajacy alkohol. W smaku tej mocy sie nie wyczuwa. Klasyk wspaniala rzecz na rozgrzanie w cicha zimowa noc. polecam

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Binny’s in Bloomingdale, IL. Murky golden-orange pour with a smaller white head - doesn’t necessarily look like much. But then you smell it, and out jumps loads of candi sugar, apple, honey, maybe some plum. Sweet for sure. Taste is very similar, quite sweet, a touch boozy, and some yeast. This is super tasty.

Mmmmmmmm this is an awesome beer! Very sweet with aromas and flavors of honey, sugar, peach, grape and spices. Dry and slightly bitter finish. Despite the very high ABV the alcohol is barely noticeable. Excellent beer. Bottle from 2012

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
The Dolle’s famous winter beer, a classic since 1982, with off-white, regular, relatively stable, sticky head and orangey amber colour, hazy. Perfumey, tempting aroma of orange, pineapple, ripe peach, amaretto, flowery hops, spiciness, whisky; very vividly fruity taste, almost like fresh orange juice, quickly becoming yeasty, spicy and malty, honeyish, slick and creamy mouthfeel, dry finish with floral, aromatic hops and lots of booze, but fortunately not becoming wry, long and satisfying. The older version of 8,1% ABV, made with Rodenbach yeast and basically a blend of old Boskeun beers, was better still, more balanced and less alcoholic. Has a great ageing potential, I hartily recommend vertical tasting of several vintages. Which gives me an extra argument to state that this beer deserves to be classified as a barley wine rather than the somewhat meaningless ’Belgian strong ale’...
