33cl bottle from World of Beer Largo. Pours a cloudy amber with a one finger white-tan head that dissipates quickly but still laces the glass. Aroma: Complex sweet and sour smells; difficult to decipher completely. Perhaps some bread and yeast overtones in the aroma with a fruity smell (pear?). Well-balanced flavor with sweet, sour and bitter combining effortlessly to provide an exceptional drinking experience. Creamy mouthfeel but the 12% ABV is well hidden in the intense flavors of the beer. Excellent beer.

Jul 14, 2008 Had 2000 bottle (330 ml) at Kulminator on 6/19. One of the best beers I’ve ever had. Just amazing aroma of sweet fruits and caramel malts. Flavor very sweet, but not cloying at all, with a wonderful vineous finish. This beer ages unbelieveably well. Just an unbelieveable beer.

Jul 13, 2008 Single from Party Liquors (Steger, IL). 2006 is the year. Pours a very hazy floaty ridden heavy amber with a prominent tan head that begins to dissipate. Nose of sweet fruits and butterscotch. Taste of honey sweetness, belgian yeasty / spiciness that is a little more somber, and a very boozy presence. Complex. Unsessionable. Decent, unique, but strong.

Jul 8, 2008 Pours a hazy orange with a ton of sediment and a huge off-white, foamy head. Thick aroma of orange citrus acidity, grains, Belgian yeast, and malt. Heavy bread in the taste with a strong acidity and tartness from the Belgian yeast. Sugar doesn’t add much to the flavor only the heat in the stomach! The bitterness isn’t apparent but does a great job leveling out the 12% ABV. Another interesting overall concept from De Dolle.

Jul 5, 2008 12oz bottle at Redlight Redlight (Thanks Teege). Pours a dark amber with a huge long lasting head. Slightly tart aroma with huge amounts of yeast and dark fruit on the nose. Taste is really incredible. Dark sugar, some tart apple, berries, yeast and figs. Very low bitterness, and the alcohol is nonexistant despite the 12%. Truly an incredible beer.

Jun 30, 2008 Updated: Jul 7, 2008I meant to hold on to this bottle till winter, but hey it’s only 98 degrees today. Pours a cloudy orange with a very thick and creamy white head and a layer of sediment at the bottom. The aroma is very full and rich; tons of yeast, very sweet fruit and candy canes. The taste is also quite powerful; a very sweet candy flavor, with some chocolate and tons of strawberry and prune flavors. There is a ton of alcohol warmth here, also some peppermint and cloves. Very nice. I always enjoy De Dolle and this was no exception. This beer is just what it should be.
