05 **** bottle? Think so. Anyway, pours a nice slightly amber gold with thick white head, decent lacing, left most of the yeast in bottom of bottle to try later. Flavor is of yeast, slight hops, sweet malt, banana, sugar, and some fruity esters. Flavor matches well, but is a bit too sweet for my liking. Alcohol was pretty well hidden, but obviously still there. Pretty decent, but would have to try this more fresh to see if I prefer it aged or not.

Well, since Iím a big fan of De Dolle my expectations are very high. A 2013 33 cl. bottle poured in to a Trappist glass. Hazy, deep amber golden (a lovely orange) colour with a fat, white head that fades to a thin layer. Sweet, complex aroma with yeasts, sweet exotic fruits, banana, oranges, spices, honey and some candy. Very rich and malty. A bit of alcohol. Taste is medium to heavy sweet. Palate is perfect, full body with a rich, oily texture supplemented by a lively, dotting carbonation that removes some of the fatness from the rich malts. Long lasting sweet finish with yeasts, spices, sweet fruits and a slight heat from alcohol. This is truly great - I bet a little bit of ageing would mellow some of the alcohol down. Superb experience!

From tap and bottle @ kerstbierfestival Essen. Somewhat dark orange cloudy pour with an Okay head. Good aroma of wild fruits, berries and spices. Taste is very full though complex. I get oranges and grapefruit, hops perhaps? Burnt sugars and cinnamon. Full thick body yet drying finish. I can see why this is a favorite, might be too much of a newbie to recognize all the flavors. Still a fantastic christmas ale.

Bottle in the Bierbrasserie Cambrinus, Brugges. Pours a cloudy amber colour with a little white head. Very spicey flavour, but light and hoppy. Starts sweet before a good very bitter finish. Possibly some orange and cloves in there too. Really good.

11.6 oz bottle to snifter (2012 vintage; shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a semi-transparent dark orange with off-white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; Belgian yeast, stone fruit, and candy. Tastes like it smells with a nice mouthfeel. More apricot in the taste than the nose. Good beer.
