Draft at brewery, Tillamook. Pours a dark purple, lots of pale purple head. Aroma funky, funk increasing as beer warms. Direct, fruity, with a slightly tangy lactic backing. Body full and juicy, with a latent tartness. One of the betters BUs for me.

Salmoniform (652) - Sweet Home, Oregon, USA - AUG 2, 2014
Poured from bottle to snifter. Deep hazy blood red hue with fizzy pink head that dissipated immediately. Aroma is blueberry, lactic, oak, acetic. Mouthfeel is refreshing with a medium light bidy and sharp carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness initially with an explosive tart sourness through the finish. Overall this is a really nice sour ale.

Served in a de Garde tulip. Nose and flavor heavy on the blueberry. Moderate acidity. A bit too much muted earthiness for me. Something about blueberry berliner doesn’t work for me, as I’ve had similar thoughts on other berliners with this fruit.

Bottle. A: Light purple with a disappearing head. Lacing and bubbly carbonation. N: Grapefruit, blueberry, lemon zest, pepper, conifer, and bubble gum. Oak, grass, and some indiscriminate floral hints. T: Powerful sour. Fruit adds a modest dimension, and there’s some sweet-tart and sulfuric going on here. M: Watery in a way that I’m not digging. Prickly carbonation. O: Good - heavily sour which is either pleasing or too damn much for a Berliner Weisse.

Bottle shared at Dunt’s Tasting (Chicago, IL). Pours a nice rich blueberry ruby glow, well hazed with a lively offwhite head, sticks around as a firm layer. Aromas are tart, blueberry skin, a bit of berry, yogurt and tart lemony life. A bit more character on the nose than Cran. Initial is tart and lively, nice lactic acidity, blueberry skin and pulp, some touches of bread, nice bigger acidic bite is nice and lactic, the berry integrates well, a bit more assertive with more character than Cran. Backend is dry, lactic and a bit slick, nice sourness lingers on. A touch dry and fuzzy finish. Tasty stuff.

Fare thee well Josh tasting at Bruce’s. Hazy pale purple - pink beer, tiny pink head! Palate is crisp and dry. Minerals. Dry chalky sherbet, tart but very thin blueberry. Finishes crisp. Tickles the tastebuds but the fruit is very thin.

Bottle shared in London for my farewell drinks. Big thanks to Bruce for this bottle. Pours hazy pink with a small white cap on top. Nose is tarty and sugary with some musky blueberries and ripe plums. Taste is dry and plummy with juicy blueberries, a touch acidic and nice tart to follow. Balanced very nicely. Good stuff

Bottle shared at Josh’s Farewell Hoorah - big thanks to Bruce my OR beer pedler, 20/02/14. HAzed crimson come pink with a moderate off white covering that clears to spotting. Nose is tarte berry fruit, tangy bluberry, straw, raspberry syrup. Taste comprises tangy blueberry, tarte red berry medley, straw, light acidic notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp clean finale. Solid refreshing berry fruited up Berliner.

Bottle shared in London during Josh’s going away bonanza. Thanks to Bruce for this one. Pours lightly hazy pink-red with a mellow, white foam head. Tart berry nose, some blueberry skins, faint herbs. Light sweet flavor, very clean, plenty of lightly tart blueberries, faint acidity. Light bodied with fine, spritzy carbonation. Exceedingly clean on the finish with quick blueberry tartness, low acidity. Very, very drinkable.
