4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Growler... This beer rocks!… Cloudy straw-colored ale with a petite, wispy, white head that’s gone faster than you can say “quick.” The nose is lemony, bready and highly acidic. Light to medium-bodied with jazzy carbonation. The flavor is eye-squintingly sour and citrusy. Finishes tart, coarse and dry. Muchos kudos to landhoney for popping the top on this world class Berliner weisse!

Thanks, Aaron! Nice light lemon acidity with a strong wheat backing. Quite nice for 2.1%.

Pours a cloudy medium pinkish-orange, looks kind of like guava juice. Aroma is tart, with lacto and wild funk, grapes, wheat subtle. Body is fun, very lively, finishes with a subtle pucker that is long-lasting.

Tap at Crows Feet Commons in Bend. Pours full haze, murky pineapple juice. Weak foam. Nose is funky sauerkraut, mild pickle, apple sauce. Taste is tangy, mild salt, big peach and pineapple juice. Clean, tangy, lactic, clean yogurt palate. Solid, though newer batches are improving.

On tap at Tin Bucket, PDX. Hazy yellow shade with almost zero head at first and then absolutely none. Decent light sour aroma, but nothing can prepare me for the taste. It’s like the most delicious evocation of sour apples distilled into a drink. This was the most refreshing beverage imaginable on a hot day after a long walk, which may have bumped the score up, but I stand by it. Wow.

On tap at Apex in Portland. Hazy straw yellow pour with almost no head/retention. Aroma is lemon, tart citrus, grain. Tastes are sharp funk, tart, lightens up bit - long wheat lemon pucker. Good.

Got the last tulip of the keg. My first taste of this Oregon Coast brewery and it was really good. Makes me want to try more of their beers. Has a lovely sour tang to it. Pours a hazy yellow/brown.

On tap at the Tin Bucket. Pours a cloudy yellow with no head. A huge sour and fruit nose with lemons and citrus. The flavor is tart lemons, big woody sourness, lactic at times, very much like really tart raw pineapple or lemon juice. Easygoing of course. Quite nice.

Shared at Chris’ pad. Hazy yellow pour with a white head. Sour lemon aromas. This is one sour ass bitch. Tart lemon and citrus notes. Acidic. Great mouthfeel and decent body.

On tap at Apex. Really excited to start trying some De Garde beers.
A: Cloudy straw yellow with a complete lack of head. It’s pretty muddy, unfortunately.
N: White wine grape, starw, light acid, buttered biscuit (but not buttery), green apple, lemon zest, and grapefruit rind. Nice.
T: Lightly lemon sourness with a modicum of sweetness. Very simple and round. Needs a little more definition before it stands up and sings.
M: Very light and well carbonated. Refreshing on a summer day.
O: I could drink quite a bit of this, especially if it’s dialed in a little bit so that the taste becomes cleaner. Still, at 2.1%, there’s a lot of flavor here.
