A blend of three Gin barrels of 14 month aged Saison. We added orange peel in barrel to highlight the beautiful citrus character from the wild fermentation, then subtly dry hopped at blending with floral and fruit forward northwest hops. Big orange and spicy botanical aromas and flavors.

Bottle. Cloudy orange pour, with an off white head. Aroma is herbal, grapefruit, gin spice, and orange. Flavors of bitter citrus peel, grain, herbal spice, light gin notes, tart, orange juice, and kind of spritzy. Decent, not great.

Bottle, courtesy of a chill brœ, shared in a location remote of my living room.
Pours a really hazy pale orange color with a small head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is funky with some pool water, a bit of citrus (generally) and a nice little bit of orange zest (specifically). There is some corky character here. It’s an inviting aroma, although it also comes across as a touch of a messy aroma. for what it’s worth.

For all the lack luster of the aroma, the flavor just makes right up... It’s tart and dry with a little bit of cork, a bunch of dry white wine, a bit of spiciness, some orange zest and mild general citric character. The limestone minerality is huge here, but works harmoniously with the rest of the flavors.

Super bright citrus smell. Taste is ptetty much the same with a slight bite of gin, ginger, and lemon zest. Light to medium body and sharp carbonation with very slight foam.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy, nearly opaque pale orange, no head. Aroma is really nice: super fruity, with pineapple, peach, and apricot leading the way along with orange juice and mild gin botanicals. Slight tartness, white wine. Taste is sweet and bitter orange and funky Basque cider along with slight graininess, saison spice, kafir lime, and a pleasant lactic sourness. Oaky finish with some juniper. Some lemon juice too. Prickly carbonation. Nice balance and less sour than I was expecting given my past De Gardes. The aroma in particular makes this a winner.

Bottle split at CBC Clerko from an IP trade with MJ, 06/01/15. Looks like a mango smoothie, kind of artificial orange hues with little in the way of a head. Nose is bitter orange, herbal strokes, light menthol, papaya, spice. Taste comprises tarte fruit, mango, bitter orange, spice, straw, tangerine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light acidic vibes in the close. Solid enough saison but lower down the running order on the De Garde beers I’ve had.

Tasting at Craft Clerkenwell. Thanks to Colin for this one. Hazy gold - orange beer, residual white head. Palate is light and semi dry and finely crisp. Light sourness with nice zippy orange and a little lemon. Pinch of sherbet. Trace of gin adds colour. Light crisp finish. Pretty drinkable.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Colin. Pours murky gold with minimal head. The nose holds lots of tart citrus, tangerine, herbs. Light sweet flavor with some rindy bitterness, tart lemons, moderate acidity, citric bite. Light bodied with spritz you carbonation. Clean and tart on the finish, some mandarin orange, tangerine, peel. Very nice.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours murky orange with quickly dissipating head. The nose is musty, barnyard, earth, bitter-orange, must, touch of grapefruit rind, vanilla and light pepper notes. The taste is bitter-orange, sour, orange juice, grapefruit juice from concentrate, mild acidity, drying wood, light vanilla and some mouth-pucker with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Interesting stuff, but not my favourite from these guys.
