A larger version of our Berliner Weisse inspired sour wheat beer, ‘Bu Weisse.’ This version is aged on over 2lbs per gallon of Oregon Boysenberries in first use Red Wine barrels. Rounded fruit in the front, with with crisp acid character followed by richer barrel notes and a balanced structure.

750 ml bottle to snifter (thanks Ferris). Looks good; a cloudy blueberry flesh with fizzy lighter head. Smells good too; tart and moderately lactic with notes of oak, berries, and mild wheat with a soft vinous presence in the background. Tastes like it smells, but more robust. Jammy too. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and pleasantly lively. Delicious!

750 ml from the brewery. Aroma is fermenting berries, oak, lemon, lacto. Pours ruby red/purple with a purple head with decent retention. Taste is mouth-puckering sour (8/10), dry, oaky, berries, lemon, vinegar. Quenching, tasty.

750, capped. Thanks, J! Pours an opaque dark purple with a billowing, sudsy pink head. Looks almost exactly like a tulip full of Welch’s grape juice. Big tangy dark juicy berries on the nose. Creamy medium body, carb is a bit velvety. Silky shots of berry juice all over the mid palate, only moderately tart by DGBC standards. Very refreshing and drinkable.

750 ml bottle, thanks Poisoneddwarf for bringing this back for me- Pours a fantastic dark ruby red to red wine like color with a purple berry colored head that at first reduces fast but holds at a blanket. Aroma is berries, tannic, lacto, oak. The taste is tart, sour, funky, dark berries, red wine, oak, berry flavored yogurt, the barrel imparts a welcomed dry finish. Very tasty, love it.

B1 had July 2014. Holy jam bomb batman. Color is amazing and so much fruit and funk. Slight lacto in the nose. Taste is all wonderful boysenberry jam, surprising amount of funk and fruit loops.

Bottle thanks to tectactoe for sharing. Aroma is very wheat with lots of lemon and light blueberry. Tastes moderately sour. Loads of lemon with a good amount of blueberry (I’m guessing this is actually boysenberry). Wheat and red wine finish. Very good like all De Garde.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate berries, funk, must, lemon, and sweet tarts. It’s a purplish-brown with a large light purple head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of berries. The finish has moderate-heavy sour lemon, funk, and faint must. It’s light bodied with moderate-heavy, but not prickly, carbonation.
