Hazy brown color with a small head. The taste is sweet light malty with light nutty and spicy notes. Finishes slightly sour.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ThomasE (5176) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 3, 2005

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 pivo (2540) - GERMANY - NOV 10, 2004
Sweet honey nose, cloudy brown color, low foamy head. Light chocolatey malt - sweet and toffee-like. Meidum body. Could benefit from some bitter or sour or something to counterbalance the malt.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 YogiBeera (2436) - Hamburg, GERMANY - OCT 24, 2004
Nahhh - Mdium brown coor, small frothy head, yeasty and sweet nose. Light sweet bready taste - but not much going on.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 maeib (6634) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - JUN 12, 2004
Bottled - bought at Evening Star Brighton. A muddy brown beer with a high amount of sediment. The aroma is sweet but with some smoky notes. The taste is typically Dubbel but the extra sediment gives it a bit of a ’meaty’ taste. Still good though.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (6728) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - FEB 27, 2004
Brown with beautiful red shine; good carbonation to dense, creamy yellowish head, lacey. Very obvious chocolate nose, cacao. Iron in the head! Again very much (sweet) chocolate, and, blood-like ironoxyde in the taste. The liquor - or a head stabiliser? Sweet main taste, but counterbalanced by the carbonation and the iron. Retronasal a bit of peanut flavour. A bit fizzy. Light bodied for a dubbel. No discernible aftertaste, even not warming up. Apart from the mouthfeel rather nice chocolatey dubbel. It's the ironnotes I have some doubts about...
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 bierkoning (8107) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - JAN 3, 2004
Red brown color with bits of yeast floating. Chocolate and mocha aroma and flavor, somewhat dusty. Rather thin. Sweet and sugary, some mango fruit. Maybe a bit infected, but the flavor is not too bad.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 madsberg (7569) - Søborg, DENMARK - SEP 5, 2003
Bottled: Light amber coloured. Dusty. Medium lasting light brownish head. Malts, light spices and yeast in the nose. Sweet, malty somewhat citrusy flavour. Distinct alcahol notes. Has a rather bland and uninteresting aftertaste.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ungstrup (23961) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 27, 2003
A deep red beer with a beutiful head but mine had clumps of yeast floating around in it. The flavor is rather sweet yeasty with notes of fruit, apples, and burnt caramel. The middle is somewhat thin - especially for a 6.5% ABV. But it ends on a dryness combined with a good bitterness.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 leaparsons (6324) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 22, 2003
Muddy brown with a head that disappears too soon. Aromas are sweet with hints of caramel. This is not the most complex of dubbels. Too sweet for me and it lacks the chocolate and coffee flavours that I like. A bit weak.
