Dixen (1465), Flagstaff, Arizona, USA Jun 5, 2005 Malty nose, some sugars. Dark brown body with a small off-white head. Sweet flavor, molasses. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands May 28, 2005 Bottled. Light spices and burnt caramel aroma. Brown color, light brown head, fair lace. Strong flavors, dark malt chocolat, spices, licorice, pretty bitter, medium body. Technical ok, but I don’t like those spices in a dubbel very much. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England May 26, 2005 a sim rate:
A bit watery for a dark beer, though the flavour is quite full. The taste is a bit disappointing after the chocolatey aroma. There’s a bit of a bite at the finish. Standard for a dark (dubbel) beer. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 14, 2005 Updated: Jun 10, 2005(Bottle33 cl) Not really brown, more like a deep amber with an extremely large sediment. Sweet, but not nauseating. Bitter, but not in a harsh way. Apparently with spices, but no sugar. It doesn’t say which spices. Distinct, fruity ale-touch, but I find it hard to define exactly which flavor. Splendid. 301203 Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Feb 13, 2005 Dark hazy amber colour with a big baige head. Sweet caramel yeasty aroma and a sweet caramel malty dry taste. Medium to full body and a sweet dry finish. sayravai (3720), Helsinki, Finland Feb 4, 2005 (Bottled) Darkish, reddish-brown color with a medium head (really wants to get out of the bottle, though). Sweetish-caramely aroma with loads of licorice and herbs. Malty, sweetish, herb-licourice flavor. Medium to full-bodied, slightly sugary, quite low-carbonated palate. A very nice and tasty dubbel, especially for the ABV - I like! jfm (1694), Holbæk, Denmark Feb 3, 2005 Hazy brown color with a small head. The taste is sweet light malty with light nutty and spicy notes. Finishes slightly sour. ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Feb 3, 2005 Nice dubbel with a dark amber colour and a beige head. Malty and sweet aroma with hints of yeast. Flavor is also malty and sweet with hints of chocolate.
