3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Fukito (611) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - SEP 21, 2008
bottle, september 08. Clear, rubby copper color witha medium, creamy cremé head. Aroma is fruity with a caramel and banana touch. Some spice, quite restrained. Flavor is ripe fruit, bananas and a slight coffee touch. Slightly phenollic with a short earthy aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium, some chewy malt and easy drinking but with a sudden watery finish. Ok, easy drinking dubbel that could do with a bit more personality.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 maltdog (587) - Colorado, USA - APR 6, 2009
"Hoppy Belgian dubbel." Best before date June 2009. Pours a vivid rust red, topped by tawny marshmallow crème. Spicy-fruity aroma features plum and chocolate, grape flavored gum, mace, and wood. There is a sharp chemically scent I was going to call "artificial cilantro", but a more accurate name is "spray-on oven cleaner." Rather timid flavor... candied fruits, marzipan, and "burnt aloe" spicyness. Lots of quote marks in this rating. Thinnish, wheaty mouthfeel. Overall very restrained, and VERY weird.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 davidpl (435) - Santiago, CHILE - MAR 28, 2008
Appearance: mahogany color (beautiful). Medium head, lasting and with beige color.
Aroma: to caramel malts and citric-herbal touches from hops. Yeast smells with fresh note, this inject vanilla’s reminiscences. Also, chocolate aroma reminiscences.
Flavor: sweet start, not sickly, from toast and caramel malts. Intensive and nice chocolate’s reminiscences. Others flavor like milk, mocha and cream. The liquorness and cacao taste remember me a truffle; while that the yeast inject sponge-cake’s reminiscences. Light berries note. Chocolate aftertaste.
Palate: medium to full body with silky and oily texture. Light to medium carbonation.
An incredible, intensive and nice chocolate taste. Balanced and with own-character. Great beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 borisz (334) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 4, 2012
Aroma of roasted caramel maltiness mixed with some spice. Hazy, dark brown coloured with a lasting, thick brown head. Taste is sweet and bitter. Caramel malty, roasted. Some fruits (prunes/raisins) and definately spices in it. Bit like a combination between a dubbel and a stout. Nice.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DarkSong (247) - Dacula, Georgia, USA - MAY 1, 2010
330 ml bottle. Pours a brownish bronze color with a small white head. It has a spicy malty aroma with maybe a bit of a prune smell. This is a very complex tasting beer. It has a caramel taste with maybe a bit of raisin , cereal and a touch of toast. and a little bit of vegetables. This beer was pretty good but didn’t strike me as a spectacular beer.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 jmm1 (114) - ANDORRA - JAN 19, 2008
33cl bottle. Dark amber cloudy body with a nice puffy beige head. Bready nose with subttle tones of clove and caramel. A slight acid approach in mouth with some sweet roasted malts, and hops bitterness at the end that leaves a coffee-like aftertaste. Medium-high carbonation with a light body cause some effervescences that disturb the complexity of the flavors which is a pity. Could have been a good dubbel but is an underachiever because of that lack of body and a too high carbonation, the brewer should tone this down to make a more serious beer with less pops.
