Not a very attractive yellowish brown with a white head. Faint sweet aroma that had a hint of caramel. Sweet, alcoholic taste with a little leathery malt and spiciness. Is there some apple too? Slight dryness.

In the bottle at the 2009 Crescent Moon Extreme Beerfest. Pours a dense dark amber color with a thick off white head. Rich wine-like and fruity aromas. Thick sugary raisins and plums to the flavor with a mild chocolate maltiness. Chewy.

Smallish offwhite head. Hazy amber body with fast carbonation. Fruity, yeasty wild berry aroma with yoghurty notes, somewhat artificial. Dry yoghurty wooden wild berry taste, again somewhat artificial. Mouthfeel a little watery. Aftertaste is much the same. Disappointing, and not really very enjoyable. (0.33l bottle at Cardinal.)

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a light, off-white, creamy head, over a light brown body. Aroma of alcohol, banana, chocolate, brown sugar and raisins. Taste is alcohol, metallic, malty, banana and brown sugar.

Bottled. Clear amber with a sissapearing white head. Yeasty aroma with notes of almond, hay and cocoa-powder. Malty flavour of light chocolate, nuts, anise with hoppy undertones of hay. yeasty finish of almond paste, nuts and chocolate with a metallic undertone.

Aroma of roasted caramel maltiness mixed with some spice. Hazy, dark brown coloured with a lasting, thick brown head. Taste is sweet and bitter. Caramel malty, roasted. Some fruits (prunes/raisins) and definately spices in it. Bit like a combination between a dubbel and a stout. Nice.

Chestnut brown with a big, lacing head. Delicious aroma of caramel and some liquorice as well as spicy yeastiness. Raisiny aromas in the background. Full, raisiny sweetness with lots of caramel. The finish is dry with a lot of spicy yeastiness, balancing the malty sweetness very well. One of the best dubbels I have tasted in a long time.

Pours very dark copper with a fast falling beige head. I thought this was flat and a bit watery overall, lack crispness and esters. Mild flavors of cherry and caramel, sort of soft chocolate note, but I didn’t get much out of this, flat, bland and kinda boring for a dubbel.
