japet (38), Denmark Mar 22, 2003 I new beer for me, very spicy and speciel taste. It is not like no other beer, but it's good with a good body. thebeertourist (1764), Oslo, Norway Nov 18, 2005 Chestnut brown with a big, lacing head. Delicious aroma of caramel and some liquorice as well as spicy yeastiness. Raisiny aromas in the background. Full, raisiny sweetness with lots of caramel. The finish is dry with a lot of spicy yeastiness, balancing the malty sweetness very well. One of the best dubbels I have tasted in a long time. Jerre (1333), Waregem, Belgium Sep 2, 2006 Brown with beautiful red shine; good carbonation to dense, creamy yellowish head, lacey. Again very much (sweet) chocolate, and, blood-like ironoxyde in the taste. The liquor - or a head stabiliser? A bit fizzy. Light bodied for a dubbel. No discernible aftertaste, even not warming up. davidpl (397), Santiago, Chile Mar 28, 2008 Appearance: mahogany color (beautiful). Medium head, lasting and with beige color.
Aroma: to caramel malts and citric-herbal touches from hops. Yeast smells with fresh note, this inject vanilla’s reminiscences. Also, chocolate aroma reminiscences.
Flavor: sweet start, not sickly, from toast and caramel malts. Intensive and nice chocolate’s reminiscences. Others flavor like milk, mocha and cream. The liquorness and cacao taste remember me a truffle; while that the yeast inject sponge-cake’s reminiscences. Light berries note. Chocolate aftertaste.
Palate: medium to full body with silky and oily texture. Light to medium carbonation.
An incredible, intensive and nice chocolate taste. Balanced and with own-character. Great beer. sayravai (3037), Helsinki, Finland Feb 4, 2005 (Bottled) Darkish, reddish-brown color with a medium head (really wants to get out of the bottle, though). Sweetish-caramely aroma with loads of licorice and herbs. Malty, sweetish, herb-licourice flavor. Medium to full-bodied, slightly sugary, quite low-carbonated palate. A very nice and tasty dubbel, especially for the ABV - I like!
