11.2 oz fat squat brown bottle of "Belgian Ale brewed with ginger" served at about 56F in a St. Bernardus snifter. Coding on cap indicates a best by date of June 2013. A: Pours a hazy amber with a thin but very durable off-white head that leaves some sticky lacing. Aroma: a pronounced, but not intimidating, note of ginger with a surprisingly obvious hits of lemon and spicy hops. Hints of yeasty baked bread from the subtle malts and not-so-subtle yeast. T: Started with ginger and spicy yeast, the flavor profile transforms across time, with flavors of lemon and lime joining in momentarily before the surprisingly delicate finish. M: Medium-full body; medium, very soft carbonation. A very light tingle from the higher ABV and ginger. O: Allowing that Brouwerij De Graal intended to make ginger a prominent component of this beer, the level of spicing is excellent. Ginger is one of the main features of both the aroma and the flavor, yet many other components come through without being masked by the ginger. Certainly one of the best ginger beers I’ve tried.

Bottle from Belgisk Bryg. Yellow colour with a white head. Aroma and flavour of yeast, fruit, spice and bread.

Its really dry and pretty well done for what it is. Unfortunately, I’ve had a beer that smelled similar to this that I couldn’t stand. It says that it is spiced with ginger, but it smells like there is some cardamom in there.

Bottle, 33 cl. Light unclear golden with a massive white head. Nose is - surprise, surprise - ginger, but in a fruity almost candy-like way, spicy and sweet just as the sticky ginger bon bons, you can buy in a China store. Some fruity hops accents too. Sweet and spicy, lots of ginger and a medium bitter finish. Very well balanced and surprisingly drinkable given the fact that i am in no way a big fan of ginger-flavored beers.

Flaske innkjøpt i Barcelona, juli-12: Høyt skum som varer. Den belgiske ølgjæren gjør seg umiddelbart til kjenne. Krydder og ingefær både i aroma og smak. God balanse mellom maltsødme og krydder. God munnfylde.

Itchy oat nose, sandy yellow body with trailing white head after a slightly pillowy pouring. Decent impact on initial palate, dry and savoury core. No real indication of the ginger element until the finish, tickling nicely on the linger. A smooth effort with the key ingredient without being overly unrefreshing. (Bottle, Euston Tap, London)

33 cl. bottle sampled @ Bier Central // clear yellow with a white head // smell is sweet ginger, touch chemical, touch sweet tea with lemon, white bread yeast & white pepper // taste is clean round, sweet ginger, sweet tea with lemon, zesty, citus, white bread yeast, moderate white pepper finish // I am getting some quite nice ginger out of this, neat // body: m/m

Troebel gele kleur, de kraag is ok. Smaakt wel pittig en redelijk vol. De gembersmaak is er echter moeilijk uit te halen, alleen als je er echt op gaat zoeken. Weinig aroma maar goed te drinken.

Cloudy appearance full of particular matter. Virtually no aroma whatsoever. The palate is a bit sharp and biting on the end. Unfortunately, I was expecting quite a bit more ginger; if I didn’t know it was a ginger beer, I probably wouldn’t have identified it as such. But, in terms of just beer, instead of ginger beer, it’s not bad.

33cl bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with a nice big white head. Smells of clove, belgian yeast, spice, and ginger. Tastes deliciously spiced, with ginger, a well-balanced heavy sweetness reminding me of a ginger cookie. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, and a very creamy mouthfeel.
