3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ungstrup (23961) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 12, 2003
A slightly unclear dark yellow beer with a fast disappearing head. The aroma is sweet with nice ginger notes. The flavor is a round soft ginger flavor - really a great flavor for a ginger beer. It also has a nice palate. The best ginger beer I've ever had.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 omhper (15956) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 12, 2003
Bottled. Orange and cloudy with a wealth of small floaters. Light ginger aroma. Sweet and malty, and IMO a good balance between the sugar, the malt and the ginger. Original and complex interplay between malt and spices.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Hildigöltur (5107) - København, DENMARK - MAY 12, 2003
Blond. Notes of ginger and elderflower in the aroma. The flavour is slightly yeasty and fruity like a regular Belgian Tripel with vague ginger notes underneath. I thought/hoped that the ginger would be more evident in this brew, but it's still interesting.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (6728) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JAN 25, 2003
Dark blond. Flimsy head, rather stable however. Nose: first feta-herbs, then outspoken ginger, like preserved (Japanese sushi-)ginger. Some candi-sugar.
Taste gives ginger again. Retronasal very outspoken liquorice flavour, some tart bitterness overlying on malts.
Mouthfeel is rather thin, but the spiceyness beefs it up.
Aftertaste: the ginger keeps overpowering.
Overall not bad - it's a real try at something different.

Blond with a small head. Large white flakes floating around. Gingery aroma and taste that overwhelms everything else that might have been there. Best before date:June 2004.
