750ml capped and foiled bottle from Dranken Geers. Peachy haze with a fine lacing veil of suds; nose all ’kruiden’ and ’epices’: I’ve had a good rummage in the spice cupboard working out what (my Dutch is shit), and settled on ground ginger and coriander seed. There is also that enticing waft of creamy sweetness, lemon sherbet. perfume and oatmeal I associate with Tripel Karmeliet. Flavour unabashed ground spices and perfume, balanced attractively with biscuit malts, spruce-accented hop, lemon barley and pineapple esters. Really overripe fizzing pineapple on the burp. Hugely likeable, medium-spicy brew: easily the pick of the De Graal stuff I’ve tried, and even better, 2 quid a pop. Discreetly spicy and quenching: forget soap-flavoured Kentish-’Indian’ lager or IPA, THIS is what should be compulsorily served in the curry houses of England. Fill your boots when in Gent.

Bottle. A golden coloured pour with a reasonable white head. Herby, floral aroma. Tastes floral, ginger, spice, slightly sweet. Quite a drinkable beer.

Tasted at Extreme Beerfest. Lemony yellow with a white head. Beautiful ginger nose. Ginger and beer flavored with a splash of pepper at the end.

Sampled at the 2010 Crescent Moon Extreme Beer Festival. Pours pale yellow budweiser looking with a thin white head. Huge ginger aroma. Has a honey sweetness with a mild ginger flavor. There’s no burning here and it’s not overdone. This would be a perfect digestif beer.

Bottle. Lovely aroma of flowers, ginger and hops. Light yellow colour with white head. Sweet fruity flavour dominated by the ginger. Well belanced with hops and malt.. Soft mouthfeel due to low carbonation. Absolutely among the beast ginger brews.

750ml bottle. Thick, murky golden-tan color with a nice off-white head. Lots of floaties. The aroma is light and refreshing, with some honey, coconut, and mango tones. The ginger is quite apparent, but the mouthfeel is creamy and yeasty enough to take it all in and balance it out. Mild grapefruit notes as well, but not in the overbearing Cascade way, more in a sugary mellow dessert way. Impressive in that it maintains a nice mouthfeel and dangerously sessionable taste, while fully displaying the Ginger flavor as well. Exceptional balance. A great beer, a ginger lover’s dream come true.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a big fluffy white foam. Yeasty, slightly sweet and wheaty malty aroma with notes of citrus, ginger and delicate spices. Moderately bitter flavour with a balancing malty sweetness, full bodied with a lively carbonation. Yeasty malty and slightly citric taste with a tinge of ginger spice; dry-ish bitter sweet, slightly fruity and moderately spicy finish. Quite rounded, but not very complex brew. 01.XI.09
