3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Noctilucus (97) - All over Belgium, BELGIUM - AUG 17, 2012
Unclear, somewhere between amber and blonde, with a good head of yellow tinted fine foam that lasts long.
The nose is quite unremarkable, slightly hoppy and at the same time sweetish.
The taste is much more interesting: grains, hoppy though not excessive, the same sweetness of the nose without being cloying, mild spices. Not much alcohol, feels softer than 9%. There is some warmth but never an alcoholic taste unless you let it get closer to room temperature.
The aftertaste is smooth with lingering hops and softly the same spices that occurred in the taste.
Overall a smooth blonde, a mix between hoppy and sweet. However this simple description doesn’t do justice to the beer which is more complex and evolving than one would expect. Also, when the beer is a little warmer it’s much fuller in taste and much more powerful.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 suprchunk (1402) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - JAN 20, 2012
Chunky, cloudy, pale straw colored pour. Sizable white head that falls quickly and leaves a small amount of bubbles behind. Lemon meringue aroma. A little yeast as well. Sweet lemony flavor with a big dose of malt and alcohol. A slight bitterness left behind, but balanced out with some sweetness. Not as bad as I would have thought.
