Jerre (1755), Waregem, Belgium Oct 23, 2006 33cl, bottle. Deep dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma of yeasty, dark fruits. Sweet fruity taste. Medium body with a sweet, dry finish. Ag reat creation.
Ungstrup (14758), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 25, 2006 A hazy dark amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of fruit and caramel. The flavor is also sweet malty and with notes of caramel as the main things I pick up. The mouthfeel is very smooth, and it has a nice powerful body. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 12, 2009 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized light brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a opaque strongly carbonated dark brown colored body. The aroma was vinous brown malt and wheat. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. I found it to be kind of soda pop like carbonated and bubbly on the tongue. The crisp flavor contained notes of hops and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again. wunderbier (1264), Tampere, Finland May 7, 2006 Deep brown red hue with a tall and creamy off-white head. Heavy dough yeast profile sits over light roasted coffee, toffee dark bread, and anise with a distinct nuttiness. *sips* Interesting. This is really similar to a dry stout, imo. A dry stout with Belgian yeast, but still. The roast is much more pronounced in the flavor, as is the anise. The dryness appears to be largely due to heavy spicing, rather roasty or hoppy bitterness. Thyme, ginger maybe? I really can’t tell with this one. No, wait, that’s definitely ginger in there. The mouthfeel is very smooth, almost watery, medium bodied and has abundant soft carbonation. KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jan 7, 2008 Hazy brown with short lasting head. Aroma is sweet with malt, toffee and yeast notes. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, overripe fruits, spices and toffee. Good balance with warming alcohol in the end. Nice. davidpl (435), Santiago, Chile Apr 13, 2008 Appearance: dark amber to mahogany color. Medium and beige head and lasting.
Aroma: caramel malts and fresh yeasty smells. These give cookie’s, vanilla’s, butterscotch’s, toffee and cacao’s aromatic reminiscences. Also, fruity smells like fig, raisins and cherries in liquor.
Flavor: semi-toast and caramel malty start. Intensive reminiscences of semi-dry chocolate, milk with coffee, truffles, toffee and fruits like figs and black-raisins. Very persistent chocolate hint. Slight notes like wood and tobacco. Light warming final; toasty, yeasty and chocolaty aftertaste.
Palate: medium body, silky texture and medium to high carbonation.
Nice aroma and flavor, sweet but not sickly. Good chocolaty, fruity and yeasty notes. Advisable beer.
skortila (2880), Bunnik, Netherlands Jan 29, 2006 Aroma of roasted caramel malts combined with some spicy hints and liquorice. Cloudy, brown coloured with a brown, medium head. Taste is sweet, roasted, caramel and coffee like. Indeed a bit like a stout, like Joris said. Some fruity and spicy notes. Firm body. More bitterness and carbonation in the aftertaste. Actual I enjoy this one very much. Did not expect that. :) heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Sep 24, 2008 A dark brown body that showed a deep garnet when held to light. the aroma is light caramel and leather. There was also some pleasant peach fruitiness. The taste was rich toffee and raisins. There was also some light dark chocolate in the finish. A silky smooth mouthfeel and light carbonation made this very drinkable. Nicely done.
