3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
In short: A bland, very basic and boozy blonde Tripel with a spicy twist. Meh.
How: Bottle 330ml. Consumed approximately 6 months after receiving it through private import, so probably about 1 year of age
The look: Partly cloudy blonde body, lots of small particles, small white head
In long: Nose has typical blonde Belgian ale fruity yeast esters (bananas, peaches…) and also a strong phenolic character and light spicy notes. Taste is very straightforward, sweet light color fruits, commercial sliced white bread, grains, medium sweetness, a bit too much alcohol, surprisingly strong spiciness, mild lemony acidity. Even if there is no actual problem with the beer, I found it rather boring. An ordinary offering that, not offending, not interesting, just another beer I drank, and to think that this morning when I got up I was really serious about doing something meaningful with my day, but all I managed to achieve is to enter ratings on ratebeer, just like tomorrow.

Hazy gold beer. Very frothy white head. Semi soft and fairly dry palate. Sweey yeasty malt, very soft and silky. Typical tripel hard to identify subtle fruits. Possibly mango and peach. Sprinkle of minerals and a whisper of honey in the soft dry finish. Decent.

This is decidedly not a sweet style of Belgian Tripel; the beer is more a hoppy, herbal, and spicy example rather than sweet or fruity. Aromas of grass hops, dried herbs, table grapes, and bready malt lead into flavors of coriander, pepper, hay, stone fruit, and bready, grainy malt. The beer is fully attenuated, very dry, no obvious sweetness is apparent, and the hops and herbs contributed light-medium bitterness. Medium-full in weight without the benefit of any sugar, and carbonation is medium to medium-high, but still smooth. Hazy, golden in color, and capped by nearly an inch of off-white head that settles to a dusty sheet. Overall, a different kind of Tripel, and one that I really appreciate. I’m less of a fan of the sweeter style of Tripel, and I’m pleased that this one is dry, hoppy, and herbal.
