3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 16/20 FreshHawk (596) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - DEC 3, 2010
UPDATED: DEC 18, 2010 Bottle.
A - Crisp honey color with a average sized, tight, creamy very white head. Really nice retention with a thick, creamy lace.
S - Very tripel smelling. Belgian malt, yeast and candi sugar. Golden fruit with pear, apple, touches of mango, apricot and pineapple. Quite spicy with clove being strongest. More fruity esters the more I smell it.
T - Quite a spicy and hoppy tripel. Belgian malt, yeast, and candi sugar all present. Clove and other spices along with alcohol give it a bit of a kick. A good amount of fruit that is similar to the nose. Golden fruit and some tropical fruit.
M - Lighter side of medium body with a good level of carbonation. Fairly drying and a little thin.
D - Alcohol and spice a little strong to be overly drinkable, but I really enjoyed drinking this. Goes down easy.
Notes: A pretty good tripel. Pretty spicy with some tropical fruit as well. I got this out of the bargain bin and was very happy about it because it is a nice tripel. A go-to beer or prime example of the style, no, but a nice beer.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie, 01-10-10 consumed 24.10.10 Pours lemon yellow, quite pale white head. Aroma is a little pineappley along with spice and a touch of yeast. Soft in the mouth, but there is a little warmth from the alcohol, spice and a dab of pineapple again along with some sweet citrus zest. Fine. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TBone (9096) - Pori, FINLAND - SEP 30, 2010
Bottled 330ml (Beer Planet, BB 06/2011)
Hazy yellow color, huge cloudy white head, very Duvel-like outlook. Aroma is hoppy spicey with citrus fruityness and some more mellow fruits. Medium-bodied. Some alcoholic bitterness, otherwise quite sweet fruity and spicey flavor: elderberry, ginger, coriander then peach, lemon. Hoppy aftertaste. Interesting spicey tripel, but nothing anything I would drink in quantities.

Bottle at home ... golden yellow ... thin white head ... yeast bready candi sugers ... light fruity sweet sugers ... light dryness ... big yeastyness ... decent enough

A little cloudy straw yellow beer. White fine adhesive head. Smells somewhat hoppy with citrus and spices. Full body, round MF. Taste is full, bitter from the hops and some alcohol sweetness. Spices and citrus also. Aftertaste is dry from the hops with some tingling citrus.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 BierBauch (784) - Cape Coral Waterfront Wonderland, Florida, USA - JUL 8, 2010
750ml From The Wine and Chees Shop MO. Pours a slightly hazy light gold with a very dense and creamy looking head which clings to the glass nicely. First whiff of aroma tells me this is a winner. Classic Belgian yeast with spicy pepper notes, fruit and floral. Body is light and airy with a creaminess that is what I look for in the style. A perfect 5 is justified here. Flavor again, classic Tripel. Spicy, fruity and a yeast profile that just sings. much like Tripel Karmeliet yet not as sweet. Overall a winner from start to finish!
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 arone12 (703) - Maryland, USA - APR 29, 2010
Darkwer golden brown in color. Hazy beer with bits floating. Spicy in taste. Alcohol is covered up well. Smooth finish
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 drjay44 (1614) - Salida, Colorado, USA - APR 12, 2010
750. ml. bottle. BBD 6/2009. Pours an initially fluffy, tiny bubbled, white head, which collapses into a thin lasting layer, with Belgian lacing, over a clear, golden (SRM 5) body......nose is pepper, light clove, bit of apple, lemon.....taste is light malt to start, then lemon, clove, cardamom, and a tiny bit of pineapple.....mouth feel is on the light side of medium, carbonation adds a light spritz. Honey and floral aromas lingered after the glass was emptied, This is a good example of the style. Spice and fruits are there. The alcohol is well hidden. This appears to be a beer which gains greatly from a time in the cellar. BJCP 9/3/15/4/8
