This is decidedly not a sweet style of Belgian Tripel; the beer is more a hoppy, herbal, and spicy example rather than sweet or fruity. Aromas of grass hops, dried herbs, table grapes, and bready malt lead into flavors of coriander, pepper, hay, stone fruit, and bready, grainy malt. The beer is fully attenuated, very dry, no obvious sweetness is apparent, and the hops and herbs contributed light-medium bitterness. Medium-full in weight without the benefit of any sugar, and carbonation is medium to medium-high, but still smooth. Hazy, golden in color, and capped by nearly an inch of off-white head that settles to a dusty sheet. Overall, a different kind of Tripel, and one that I really appreciate. I’m less of a fan of the sweeter style of Tripel, and I’m pleased that this one is dry, hoppy, and herbal.

Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting. Hazy golden colour, white head. Spicy sweetish aroma, notes of fennel seeds and anise. Too much spices in the flavour too, not a perfect blend.

Bottle at Hermans. Hazy gold with a fill head. Aroma is fruity yeast. Flavour is some bitter liquorice, a liitle ginger on a warm boozy finish.

Troebel geel bier zonder schuim. Smaak is hoppig bitter en licht zuur, koriander en licht fruitig. Smaak blijft redelijk lang hangen. Goede tripel.

Draught at GBBF 2014. Poured a clear golden colour, with no head. Aroma of mango, Belgian yeast and golden syrup. Raisin and other dried fruit flavours, with some grain and soft fruit. Finish was esters, hay and a little bitter spruce.

Alengrin (2066) - BELGIUM - AUG 10, 2014
Misty golden blonde tripel with off-white head and pleasant, well-balanced maltiness and aromatic hoppiness, full mouthfeel, alcohol well-hidden, finishing in an agreeable herbal but firm hoppiness. One of the better Graal beers, very decent and well-executed, albeit a bit cliché.

Ik ben sowieso al een fan van tripels, maar dit is echt één van de lekkerste dat ik al gedronken heb

Douberd (2333) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - JUN 19, 2014
Stubby bottle, 330 ml. Poured into a tulip glass. ABV 9% Golden orange colour on the body, slighty hazy. Two fingers of white head, kind of froathy, thick enough though, with good retention, leaving spots of lacing on the glass. On the aroma grass, yeast, peaches, light apricots. Taste of yeast, some spices, apricots, malts. Medium thin body, average carbonation. Overall okay tripel, pleasantly drinkable.
