Golden colour. Pours with a big head. Spicy hop aroma. The sweetness is (over-?)balanced by almost harsh bitterness. The body is more than medium and it is soft on the palate. A better than average blond, though the flavour does not quite live up to expectations from the appearance and the aroma.

50cl. swingtop bottle. lovely perfume and flowery aroma. tastes bitter, bit sweet, malty, flowery(nice hop: cascade?), yeasty and spicy. alc. is appearent. medium body, low co2 and a bit sticky. looks good too: golden with a small off-white head. finishes quite dry. good!

Bottled. Sweet perfume and flowers aroma. Lovely! Amber color, off-white head, good lace. Sweet, very malty, lots of hops, light sourness and citric (orange). Quite warming for a beer with only 6% ABV.

Ungstrup (28448) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - APR 25, 2005
A dark orange beer with a huge off-white head. The aroma is very yeasty and very sweet with notes of berries and spices especially coriander. The flavor is very sweet and spicy - again with coriander standing out, but also contains notes of peach and something I can’t figure out. The mouthfeel is smooth and the end is dry and sweet.

Dark golden with nice head and lace. Fresh, fruity (peaches), hoppy and yeasty nose. Fruity flavor with a bitter-dry finish.

Hazy orange coloured, small head. Spicy and yeasty like all De Hemel brews, very peppery. No my favourite kind of beer.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2004 Slightly hazy orange color, short lasting head. Very spicy aroma, some yeast which is typical for de hemel, some caramel malts, quite peppery, nutmeg. Spicy and yeasty taste, some orange. Nice palate.

Gushing to huge brownish head; orange-amber beer. Very fruity nose, citrus-orange, Mandarine Napoleon, spicey too. Taste is spicey, as nutmeg and swet spices: cardemom, maybe cinnamon. Yet main flavour is sweet, liquorice like and citrussy. Rather thin mouthfeel for such a laden beer. Too sweet for my tooth. For the amateurs of liqueur-like beers.

bierkoning (9819) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - NOV 29, 2003
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2008 Malt and apricot aroma. Full bodied. Apricot flavor at first, followed by a strong maltiness and a fair deal of hops. Some licorice. Just a bit sweetish and a hint of alcohol. Lovely well balanced beer, emphasizing the fruity maltiness. Expensive ($ 5,- per half litre in the shop), but well worth the money. From tap (Arendsnest Amsterdam) the beer disappointed somewhat. Traubenzucker in the aroma. Flowery flavor, somewhat perfumed. Reasonably well hopped and seasoned, just a bit on the sweet side. I was also less satisfied with a bottle tasted in 2008. Orange color, slightly perfumed aroma of tangerine and coreander. Sweetish, perfumed spicy flavor. malt and coreander. Citrus fruit. Not unpleasant, but too perfumed for my taste.
