3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2008 Malt and apricot aroma. Full bodied. Apricot flavor at first, followed by a strong maltiness and a fair deal of hops. Some licorice. Just a bit sweetish and a hint of alcohol. Lovely well balanced beer, emphasizing the fruity maltiness. Expensive ($ 5,- per half litre in the shop), but well worth the money.
From tap (Arendsnest Amsterdam) the beer disappointed somewhat. Traubenzucker in the aroma. Flowery flavor, somewhat perfumed. Reasonably well hopped and seasoned, just a bit on the sweet side.
I was also less satisfied with a bottle tasted in 2008. Orange color, slightly perfumed aroma of tangerine and coreander. Sweetish, perfumed spicy flavor. malt and coreander. Citrus fruit. Not unpleasant, but too perfumed for my taste.

500ml bottle (Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam) tag on bottle said 6.5%
6- Sweet fleshy fruity aroma. Anna gets peach, I get the tomato sauce you find in baked beans. Some sodium ethanoate acidity regulator too. As it warms, it becomes breadier, and loses the dodgier aspects.
3 Clear orange, almost no head
7 Lovely sweet fruity and spicy taste, with a decent bready backbone to hang the other components on. No trace of alcohol at all.
4 Smoothinsh palate, gentle carbonation, but with a nice tingle aided by the bitter noble hops. Finish is a pleasant glide from the sweeter caramelly and fruity aspects to the husky and dry, almost papery, hops.
14 The initial weird aroma when cold prejudiced me a little against this, but after a few sips I was hooked. I can imagine drinking pint after pint of this in summer time, despite the 6.5%

(swing top bottle, purchased at the brewery) Almost clear, deep golden colour with a short creamy white layer. Sweet (cara-)malty and nutty aroma with flowery hoppy notes and loads of spices (anise, coriander). Toast-malty and distinctively nutty taste with light spicy notes. Medium-dry, sweet-bitter, slightly toasty and nutty finish with hints of flowery hops and light spicy notes (06.I.09).

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Gushing to huge brownish head; orange-amber beer. Very fruity nose, citrus-orange, Mandarine Napoleon, spicey too. Taste is spicey, as nutmeg and swet spices: cardemom, maybe cinnamon. Yet main flavour is sweet, liquorice like and citrussy. Rather thin mouthfeel for such a laden beer. Too sweet for my tooth. For the amateurs of liqueur-like beers.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cloudy dark golden beer. Large slowly diminishing 1cm head of white and lasting foam. Yeasty, estery, flowery and slightly citrusy aromas. Mildly toasted malts beginnings quickly switch toward flowery and lemony hops. Fair supporting body all through. Quite simple in its maltiness, not developing too much flavours (surprising feature for De Hemel!), but comfortable and smooth.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 ml bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, Tampere. Batch 7203, BBE 31.12.2011.
Pours a copper colour with a very small and thin white head. Aroma of strong apricot, citrus and malts. Flavour of apricot, malts, some floral hops and barnyard notes. Dry, malty finish. This should be more refreshing and less malty.
