Amber, clean body with nice off white head. Smooth smokey aromas, and some raisin sweetness. Quite smooth mouthfeel as well, good light bitterness and long aftertaste.

Thin white head. Slightly hazy amber pour. Definite smokey aftertaste but not overpowering. Quite a decent brew.

Clear deep amber color, small off-white head. Smokey-tobacco aroma. Medium-bodied. Caramelly, light smokey, a bit grassy hoppy. Not really German, but quite enjoyable.

Aroma has some tar and a bit of vanilla. Taste cotains tar and some smoke, but is still kind of refreshing anyway.

Danke an den Doppelbock für das Bier! Etwas rauchig und leicht herb startet das Bier, recht mild für einen Bock. Sortentypischer geht’s in den Nachgeschmack, der neben einem hopfigen Aroma auch recht würzig ist.

From bottle at the Pigs Ear Beer Festival, London on 6 December 2006 at 7.7%. Reddish copper colour with no head. Just a light tickle on the tongue. Bready, doughy malt aroma. Caramel malt on the palate with a slight, tangy hop presence and hints of bubblegum. Smoke is rather subtle. Smooth mellow mouthfeel. OK but not as interesting as expected.

Fløska. Thanks to Pinball’s ex-girlfriend. Deep golden/amber colour. Sweetish caramel dark fruity bit smoked aroma. Good mouthfeel. Sweetish caramel smoky malty dark fruity pleasant flavour.

Bottle. Thanks Pinball. Amber body with a medium off white head. The aroma has lots of caramel, toasted malt, light smoke and some yeast. The flavour is light roasty, dark fruit and dry spicy yeast.

aroma is faint, spicy.
flavor is spicy, caramel, dark fruits, faint roasted stuff. ends fruity and bitter.

Bottle from Versailles. Pours a ruby red/ light brown beer with a good head. Good aroma with hints of the smoke. Taste is absolutely great. Hints of smoke in the beginning, followed by a sweet taste wich ends slightly bitter with smoked aftertaste. Later the smoke hits you better. A great brew bij De Hemel.
