pours a murky redish brown. Next to no head. Wow, the aroma is out of this world. It’s LOADED with ripe fruit, spice, caramel, candi sugar, and a touchof malt. The flavour is outstanding! Full bodied malty fruitiness, and a great bready cake like flavour, reminds me alot of ound cake. Loads of ripe fruit, and caramel. The 12% is nowhere to be found. Wow, this is a superb brew, i wish i could get this all the time. Outstanding winter warmer. unclemattie (1662), Georgia, USA Aug 11, 2006 Seth’s wife bought this one at the Bier Stein, Eugene. Grand Cru 03.
HAzy amber. multiple herb & spice notes. like a seasoned cruton. balsalmic, nutmeg, cilantro. Red Wax on a 11.2oz bottle. TrefwoordPunk (371), Leiden, Netherlands Jan 15, 2008 Updated: Jan 18, 2008Botlle (doesn’t state how much there is in there). Pours a deep red with almost no head and an intense aroma of strong red wine, porto, ripe fruits and good honey. The flavor is at least as complex as the flavor, with raisins, caramel, coffee (with milk and sugar), ripe fruits, toffee and red wine. A long spicey finish makes this the best Dutch brew, ever! jbrus (4194), Delft, Netherlands Aug 23, 2004 Wow! Very strong aroma, fruity, light spicy, some pepper, complex. Copper color, small beige head, fair lace. Very sweet, medium bitter, very very fruity, apple, pear, apricot, hint of pepper. Very warming, sticky and full. Crosling (1660), Loveland, Colorado, USA Aug 28, 2005 2003. Dark orange color. Unbelievably rich aroma, which opens up upon warming, and hints of various fruits (blackberries, raspberry, red fruit), port, scotch whiskey, strawberry jam, spicing and a bit of caramel. Beers that cost enormous amount of cash, like this one, make me want to take small, baby sips to savor and enjoy. But, when you take big gulps, giant mouth fulls of this beer, the rich caramel and toffee elements become much more profound. Orange peel and a variety of fruits come into place, and the overall depth and richness is just astounding. I was amazed by the minute amount of oxidation and the well hidden alcohol. I love great beers that come from special places.
