3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dalle (1145) - Skørping, DENMARK - MAY 23, 2004
1 L flip-top bottle. Amber w. small head and nice lace. Very good hoppy and spicy aroma. Sweet and spicy taste with some alcohol. Full. A nice beer but I agree with Joris; quite unrefined.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (6728) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - FEB 20, 2004
Red-amber, clear; thick yellowish head, going lacey. Coriander, alcohol, faint other spices (maybe some cinnamon) in the nose. Taste is a potpourri of spices (with lots of coriander) extracted in alcohol. I'm pretty sure of quite some fusels. Bitterish-burning finish as from raw alcohol. Quite oily, slick mouthfeel (~? fusels) and of course alcoholburn. Big body. Huge beer, no doubt, but quite unrefined. Somehow, I had expected more from De Hemel.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 jerohen (1793) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - JAN 14, 2004
Clear brown coloured, small disappearing head. Like many brews of de hemel lots of spices in aroma. Strong caramel malty flavour. Alcohol is well hidden in flavour, but quite present in finish.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 caesar (3748) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JAN 14, 2004
Clear orange brown, short head. Caramel aroma, spicy in the way all the de Hemel brews are. Strong taste, caramel malty, alcoholic. Quite alcoholic palate, but not really unpleasant. Belly warming.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ungstrup (23961) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 9, 2004
The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel. The color is red and it has a fine though collapsing head. The flavor is sweet and malty with strong notes of caramel. A great beer, unfortunatly tasted late in a long session.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Hildigöltur (5107) - København, DENMARK - JAN 9, 2004
Reddish coloured. Several berries in the aroma. Powerful and full bodied. Sweet, spicy and fruity with a bitter and dry finish.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 midejo (19) - amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - DEC 28, 2003
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2004 syrupy, sweet, fruity, heavy, very special, reddish color. Once the first half of the glass is finished, it's pure enjoyment. Hard to buy in shops, often available in the arendsnest (pure dutch beer cafe)
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 William (202) - Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - DEC 7, 2003
At first you can really taste the alcohol but this gets less once the glass empties. Nice taste.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bierkoning (8107) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - DEC 6, 2003
UPDATED: OCT 15, 2007 Malt, licorice and peach aroma. Very full bodied, thick texture. Malty, syrupy and sugary. Licorice, orange and peach. A fair amount of alcohol, partly hidden by the intense fruity and malty sweetness. Some peachy sweetness, almost like a St Louis Peche. Well made and delicious beer, almost a bit too much of everything, but a real treat in your glass. Brewer Herm Hegger knows his job.
Re-rate: tap t Arendsnest. Orange color, clear. Malt and cherry sweets and pepper in the aroma. Very sweet flavor, buttery and peppery. Malty with rosebuds, raspberry, flowery hops and a hint of cardemom. Sweet but lovely. Reasonably well balanced (7 3 8 3 15 = 3.6)
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - OCT 2, 2001
UPDATED: OCT 20, 2008 Tap!@DeHemel. Didn’t make much notes as I had it before many times and thought I didn’t need to rate it. Only comments I can give now is that is was very pleasant even though it was very sweet and like sipping on a orange liquor.
